Re Campbell and Air Cadets… lies were lies, legs pulls, wind ups, show offs etc back in the day - now, it’s Trolling, to which people get wrong. Trolling IS Campbell ie saying something that could be true but isn’t. Trolling isn’t saying “I think Scotland are going to win Euro 2024”…

I had a note passed along by a mate - Alistair Butterworth - to a girl I like - Claire Sutton - in year 3, so we’re about 8. All it said was “do you want to go out with me?” And a box to write a reply. The reply came back verbally from Butterworth… “yes, for a Cadbury’s Easter Egg” “They’re expensive!!!!!” As for the, bands are better with ‘The’ before them, I just recently informed someone that it’s not THE Eagles, just EAGLES

Josh Widdicombe's voice reminds me of Zippy from Rainbow. I picture this whole thing as Acaster talking to Zippy.

James Acaster, Bob Mortimer and Karl Pilkington need a podcast together. Just the three of them discussing the weird shit that has happened to them. They could start with child hood and work their way up to present day episode by episode 😂😂

Having heard/read most of these stories in different forms, it's interesting hearing how they were told for the first time and seeing the ways James has tweaked them since.

21:49 I've never got antlers through the post, but I could have. I've been adopting a reindeer (or rather my grandparents have adopted them but it's been under my name) since I was about 3 and I've had 2 letters where they had been able to collect the antlers of the reindeer I was adopting and that I could buy. I didn't buy them, but if I had, I would have had reindeer antlers delivered by post.

These are brilliant, they have always been brilliant, and though I love the audiobook, this format is great because of Josh and all the others reacting and laughing. It’s also fun spotting all the other comics who come on.

1:44:47 I have a similar one. I was helping my mom conduct her PhD dissertation data surveys, which involved going around to some primary schools and handing kids surveys to fill out and then bringing them back. I was well aware that strange men wandering the halls of primary schools was not looked upon kindly, but when I was on the 4th or 5th visit to one school for another round of surveys, the teacher I was meeting met me at the entrance and escorted me to her classroom without giving me the chance to sign in first, and then had me wait in the hall while she went in to settle the class and get them ready for their survey. And while I was standing their outside this classroom with no visitor badge or any other symbol that I was allowed to be there, the principal came walking by. I was lucky to get out of that without going to jail.

It's a bit of a classic that if James isn't compiling these then someone else is monetizing all his scrapes from the mid twenty-teens and before.
