Try using oxi clean powder mixed into a paste and work it in the plastic and rinse it off.

I grabbed an IS200 recently and found isopropyl alcohol helps to dissolve some of the goo. Another video used acetone, but that might be too strong and could whiten the dark grey plastic underneath

I have a 2003 is300 im also working on getting rid of the sticky stuff but what I would do after im done. Im definitely gonna vinyl wrap some areas of the dashboard. 😬 TikTok made me do it lmao 😂

Please someone help! Were did everyone go that got them replaced I'm in la, Ventura area? I bought my car used and looked up vin to see it had the parts ordered for the sticky dash and even called the dealership that ordered them for my car for previous owner and they lied and said I wasn't original owner and couldn't do anything for me and dicked me around the last owner even ordered them 1 an a half years ago from this dealership that's trying to get out of repairs. My ls460 is a 2007 it lands in line with the extended warranty. Were are the good lexus dealerships. Heard so many story's of the lexus dealerships offering it and being super helpful with it this dealership wants nothing to do with it wtf?

Butler Lexus of South Atlanta recently replaced every single piece of sticky panels on my 2007 LS460. It was easily over $10,000 worth of parts and labor. The car isn't worth that much now. IJS. I called the local news and got them involved. Next thing I know, I got a recall notice.

The sticky dash that is melting comes off much more easily when it’s hot. The heat is what caused this sticky dash issue in the first place. IS300 cars in the north don’t have this major issue.

I have one with a muffler delete, and I gotta say, there is hardly any. Maybe somewhere in the low rev range, but in a 5 speed car you're gonna be keeping it around 3k RPM anyway. Basically, you only hear it in parking lots.

Ashley White I haven’t don’t anything to it yet, left it the way it was after getting rid of the sticky stuff. I’m still not sure what I’m going to do to it. If I want to do it properly I would need to take off the entire dash board and that’s a big project. Do you know what your going to do?

Does anyone know why the lexus has the sticky dash problem? Is it a manufacturer issue or was it an attempt to make a certain material that happens to go bad?

Lexus used a soft touch coating found in many laptops to offer a soft feeling to the dash. Unfortunately, this coating was very weak when it came to heat resistance. What he is rubbing off with Goo Gone is that soft touch coating and exposing the bare plastic underneath.

This was a common problem with Toyota and Lexus 2005 - 2008(?) year models. I replaced both my 05 Sienna van and 07 is250 for this sticky dash problem. I was very fortunate, Toyota did this under warranty. The material used just got soft gooey and sticky over time, my Sienna was even garaged.

@Xx Yy the surface underneath should be painted and then clearcoated to prevent the issue from coming back.

Update: Had to do safety inspection (Texas) took 2 minutes and it passed. They don’t check emissions. Cost 25$ for state inspection.

F99Photography yes, only thing did was have the muffler cut off and welded on straight pipe. Sounds great. Cost only 75$ for labor and straight pipe piece.
