Honestly I just eyeballed it. But looking back at the video, if you can take the bal mount off the mount, then you could use the mount as a template. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful.

What if my mirror got hit everything popped off but didn’t break fortunately and my mirror is hanging off but instead of black cap on motor it’s still connected to the mirror is it fixable??

If nothing is broken then you should be able to put it back together.

Great info. do this every year after we launch the boat. I'll use whatever I have available, usually either Amsoil HDMP or Fluid Film.

The new mirror design is so large and ugly! I don't get why they have such a large black portion and a tiny chrome piece. They look cheap with the black plastic IMO and they are just unnecessarily huge! They stick out way to much, the older model blended them in much better and I have an '18 Yukon and I think the size of the viewing area is just fine. I don't really care for the styling in general of the new Silverado or Sierra.

It is what it is I guess. What gets me is GM didn't include a towing mirror with the "Max Tow Package" what where they thinking. Those of us that like to tow need the popper mirrors for safety as well as being legal in some states.

Thanks man. Mine came loose (broken tab) and I got my dealer friend to get the part but we soon realized, this wasn't going to be a quick "pop off, pop on". I think I can handle it now. Cheers.

Do you have to take the mirror out or can you just pry the mirror cap off to replace it?

Yes, the mirror has to come out to bet to the screws.

It isn't hard at all. Just take your time. I would say it took me about 20minutes start to finish.

Nick Mikitka wow, that’s not long at all. I called my dealership and they wanted $400-$575 to do those and change the door handles to chrome! I’ll definitely be doing this myself. Thanks again for the great video and responding. I may message you if I have any problems but hopefully I won’t. 👍🏻
