The problem with Exhaust manifold fasteners is overheating the poor quality stock manifolds. They shrink when they are overheated. To remove them either the bolts (Since they have sideways binding) Bolts do not have universal joints and some break. The answer is to cut the stock manifold with an angle grinder, Drive a machinist's splitting wedge into the kerf forcing it to break. the gap often opens up to an eight of an inch. Bolts are easy to remove. I usually have 1 broken but can turn it out with my fingers. Buy a new, (Up-Graded manifold. Simple fact is the biggest problem is miss information and parts salesmen. There is NO PROBLEM with the stock fasteners. Install all new fasteners. Saw the bracket to reach the one back bolt. Use a short (Scab) with a hole drilled into each end. Hold it with small vicegrips. Secure it with 2 self-tapping drill screws

Don't usually comment on this kind of stuff but have to on this one. The main shaft race, inner primary and clutch bearings are not even in play when you rotate the back wheel. That sound you indicated was more likely in the final drive system, maybe a bad wheel bearing, or possibly the transmission output main bearing. Or as simple as the belt rubbing on something... K
