Soo many memories, thanks for the video, 3 days is an amazing achievement. I've walked the JMW in both directions. Great that it's never that far from civilisation to allow public transport to from start and end points of the sections. First time I did some double section days of Strathblane to Falkirk, Falkirk to Queensferry, Queensferry to Prestonpans and Prestonpans to Dunbar as part of my training for The British Heart Foundation 100km trek from Glasgow to Edinburgh . I too was delighted to pick up a certificate at the end, a lovely thing to have.

@@TheRandomRunner during an event this size how much running do you do as Iv only done 50/100 milers where mostly is running but due to the size of this race is it run for a bit then walk and keep that going? Or do you get to a certain point where walking is all you can muster up ? And would poles be a benefit for this race ? Thank you!

Hey Paul. Only just picked up on your channel. Literally took up trail running a few weeks ago. Coming from a lifetime of international pole vaulting (Junior to Masters) and not running more than about 30 metres (😂) it has been quite a change. But at 71 I am so excited by the new challenge. Love watching videos like yours. Thank you so much for sharing your adventures. The videos are both enjoyable and inspiring. Good luck to you. I look forward to seeing you achieving more successes on your own journey. 👍🏻 Allan

Paul, my friend tried and didn't quite manage to finish this year. I watched your video and foolishly wrote to the organisers to apply for a place in 2025. They have accepted me. My partner is delighted. She says she loves crewing but I think she mostly enjoys watching me suffer. I don't hold you responsible for what happens to me next year but just want you to know that you, and this video, have been my inspiration to give this a go.

Funny I was just reading about a company doing this over 17 days, running roughly 50 miles a day! Although they do it as a road run www.ultrarunningltd.co.uk/race/jogle/ There's also Ratrace who do the Run Britannia, proper trails most of the way but expensive. Or a lot of organisation and do it yourself!!

Hey, what are your thoughts on those Salomon poles after a while ? I’m like you finally after years deciding to use some but I hesitate between those ones and the Black Diamond ones which seems a bit faster to assemble

Hey there! Tbh I love the Salomon poles. They're as easy to put up/take down as any I've seen. I really like the handle grip, lends itself to many different grips depending if using the poles for descending /ascending/flat. I wouldn't be without them now for any ultra with a substantial climbs!

I've never run and Ultra. I've never run a Marathon. I've done a couple of Half Marathons but I didn't like them. BUT the lure of an Ultra is powerful. I'm tempted. I *might* give a short one a try. I like the idea of maybe a 50km Ultra. It's the terrain and the pace and the scenery that's attractive. Oh hang on! I have done the the Yorkshire Three Peaks (not an Ultra I know) in 6hrs 30mins. Thanks for the video - Thanks for the inspo!
