Any tips on resawing with japanese saw? I kinda suck at it Also is your plane square to the sole or did you had to change lateral adjustements while using the shooting board?

Nice work! When i was 15 we had woodwork classes in our school, one of my projects was a mahogany jewellery box, and now after 50 years Im still making a few boxes and gone back to mainly hand tools. All the best on your journey in life and with your woodwork!

I’m a fan of your videos, I like your mix of handtool and power tools and nice to see a KZbin channel with attainable tools. Keep them coming. Your “Building Tools to Build Tools to Build Furniture” series was great concept and should have so many views a

Getting ideas for my eventual drill table. I saw a Japanese chap recessed a circle at centre point if drill. Insertec a circle plate with metric size forstner hole imprints as sacrificial plate for drilling. Rotate plate to appropriate hole size to match drill. Also had a plain circle plate for random smaller drill holes, rotste to new area as old hole became ragged

I don't think you should stop showing the stock preparation. It's exactly what exemplifies hybrid woodworking. There are plenty of folks only showing the hand tool work. Acknowledging the machine work is what sets your channel apart.

Do you have a plan that you went off of and what kind of wood you used?

Hi - I would like to make this. However there is a point of confusion. at 01:34 you said the base is 1/4 inch plywood. Later in the video 05:54 it looks a lot thicker, like 1/2 inch. Also on ,making the first test cut you mention that the blade should touch the base. Would that not seriously weaken a 1/4 inch base plate?? Please come back to me, thanks, Peter.

How do you stop the saw cutting too deep, i.e into the table? Is that a setting / lock on the saw?

Thank you so much for this video! I'm an absolute beginner with hand tools, and a lot of the videos I've found were overly complicated or assumed I knew a lot more about planes and sharpening than I do. This was perfect - easy to follow, great explanations, and clear audio and video. I'm pleased to report my plane is finally taking decent shavings now!

Could you do a video showing how you made your 45° shooting board? Your videos saved me $1000 as I contemplated buying a Joint Maker Pro from Bridge City Tools - I think your methods are equally as accurate, more versatile, and cheaper! Thank you so much, I am a huge fan of your work.

Inspiring, thank you! Is that a Stanley 45 you are using? If so I would love a few videos on how you use it - not the set or functionality - more about what projects you employ it for - I just obtained one and I am trying to figure out when to think to use it!

Ryan, You appear to be left handed in many of your videos; that is unless you often plane with your left hand just to get the video shot because of bench being against the wall?? Have you encountered any major challenges so far if you are left handed? I know that it’s easier for guys to get into hand tools being left handed than many power tool operations. Where it will affect you most is rabbet and moulding planes because of the primary goal of pressing from the side. Have you considered moving vise to the right for you new bench?

Glad to see the western saw! I’m sorry you went through that frustration of not having a backsaw sharpened and set correctly to begin with. It’s hard to know what right looks like in some circumstances when you pick something up for the first time.

One thing i didn't see you mention in your video is that the reference board you use to screw in the fence MUST BE STRAIGHT othereise this jig is useless.

Wondering if there was a reason you opted for the Circular saw approach over a rebate plane to cut that rebate? Would it have saved much time in the end? Looks good though!
