it's the Amiga 500 version, and I believe the emulator I used is FS-UAE 3.0.5 you can find the rom on wow roms

As 26 years old currently trying to beat this game that got me stuck on the Field (level 6) as kid... and also using savestates out of desperation, I feel humiliated by such a Run, but I'll take it as a victory against this evil evil evil game

Assuming the following specific game engine behaviors translate from the SNES to the Genesis version, the following improvements seem to exist: The last leap of the smurf off the yellow duck at 5:03 , by holding Dash and Right and releasing the Right input just as one presses Jump, the smurf can be ejected much faster rightwards off the duck, but only at specific moments in the duck's animation, and for this last one, this would actually allow to save a few seconds of time. Furthermore, at 18:20 , if one holds Dash as one gets caught in the bubble, the midair fast fall & speed state of the smurf is preserved (as there is 2 different midair states for the smurf to be in, with and without Dash having been held as the smurf jumped or fell, where only with Dash, the smurf will fall faster and move faster forwards midair), which near the top right end of this stage segment allows to intentionally burst the bubble off of spikes around the exit sign to jump out of the bubble with this state to reach the exit sign earlier since the midair motion speed of the smurf's jump with Dash is faster than the bubble's motion. Other than this, aligning to solid blocks of a wall can generally barely by few pixels increase the smurf's jump height (probably due to automatic favorable vertical smurf sub-pixel position rounding as part of the collision check), which might be useful in some spots. Finally, at 14:47 , it might be faster to immediately move the smurf to around where the star is located, to jump there and throw the present bomb as the smurf hits the thin ceiling, allowing the present bomb to not only be thrown through the ceiling but be placed without having to wait for it landing or bouncing before its explosion timer starts running, which might allow blowing up the wall earlier. If one could still place leaf springs midair in the Genesis version (which though doesn't seem to be the case), then this also would be possible like in the SNES version of the game: At 11:37 one can with quick repeated jumps move and align the smurf next to the right side of the stacked rocks on the left and jump up high at the right time as the butterfly there moves leftwards as it approaches the stack of rocks to get hit by its left side while facing right at the jump's apex to get knockback onto the stack of rocks to get quick access to the left leaf spring which one then can carry to the right side, jump up via the detonator but then not crawling to the left and coming back but climbing up the right wall side instead and placing the leaf spring partially into the far right wall at the right height during a jump, by pressing Left as one holds Down since that allows placing it into the wall while checking collision behind the smurf, followed by bouncing high off the leaf spring in the wall to clip through the ceiling and - with leftwards zipping as one moves through solid blocks - be ejected to the grassy platforms on the left to continue and save many seconds that way.

Thanks for all these insights Are you TASing the SNES version ? I don't plan to rework on this TAS, even though it's certainly improvable. There's also the strat on the dam, which was discovered by speedrunners after the release of this TAS

Though no, I might eventually make a TAS of the SNES version (alone or in collaboration), but recently I've only experimented with the game and researched and documented various game mechanic details to see if ACE is possible or other interesting or useful exploits for RTA speedruns or TASes, and I plan to do so for some more SNES games. And yes, I forgot there is also that damage-boost for the Dam stage.

I usually bring up any findings for SNES games in their associated speedrun DIscord servers (or at streams of runs or contacting runners directly), or in the german and french The Strugglers speedrunning Discord server. Usually in collaboration with Sniq (a finnish SNES game TASer), we've done strategizing, routing and speedrun improvement search work or even TASes on a bunch of SNES games by now, but to different degree which depends on the game, though I've not made videos to document many of the findings yet, since I try to focus on dissecting games and forwarding useful information to the people associated to the games since that's quicker and normally good enough, it seems. Entièrement d'accord avec ce qu'elle dit! Je donne très peu d'exercices à mes élèves en dehors de l’œuvre qu'ils travaillent. Quand j'étais élève au conservatoire j'ai eu droit à des concours de gammes.... Cela n'a rien à voir avec la musique et cela m'a marqué à vie!

In the 1950’s to the end of the 1960’s, and even into the ‘70’s and ‘80’s people everywhere just didn’t know how harmful smoking was? The tobacco companies kept that a closely guarded secret. We were all ignorant then owing to the egregious criminal behaviour of the tobacco companies. We can’t retrospectively blame people for what has only come to light recently, decades later. Martha should never be criticised for having been a smoker in the ‘60’s to 70’s. I feel absolutely sure she would have given up long ago, like we all did. I have never seen her on video with a cigarette since that time.
