Love this podcast so far! I don't agree with the pickiness part. As long as you have your must haves, then everything else can kind of change. Friends change, people change, preferences change. Sometimes life just happens and you need to be secure enough to just roll with it sometimes.

This is great! Love hearing more about attachment and being picky! So many gems in this one! Keep it up guys
@Neo24931 Жыл бұрын
I agree with the idealism of being picky with choosing a partner but it also doesn’t match reality of dating or chance. Jessa is right that the person you are in a long-term committed relationship is the most important decision you can make in your life. Being so picky can lead to long-term regret if people reject relationships that don’t fit our list and they wait too long. Especially for women (age, biological clock, cultural/societal expectations) We have Lori Gottlieb, Logan Ury, and Ty Tashiro telling folks to learn to settle for the most important qualities in a relationship. We may overlook people because our perception of what we need is impaired A highly attractive person has much more options than the average person. I think the advice applies much better to people who are conventionally attractive who can also afford to be very picky.

The WADOH board found that i was not doing anything against any ethical code therapists adhere to. I have been reported 7 times and cleared ALL 7 times! So I’m not being “investigated” I -was- investigated. But! I hope you listened to the podcast and learned some good stuff!

I appreciate Stephanie’s concern (although I’ve never talked to her) and respect her ability to report professionals for what she thinks is unprofessional conduct. But at the end of the day- it is the governing states licensing board that decides if it is- and they’ve cleared me- 7 times. I am a therapist and her behavior is completely unethical. You can't give strangers therapy on a LIVE (even though she stated it wasn't therapy). Informed consent is needed for therapy; you also don't know that person's history and can do great harm. She also seems to be overcompensating for her lack of knowledge through trying to act knowledgeable. Also, you are not a trauma therapist when you aren't trained in trauma modalities. Please contact your board of ethics and supervisor for education to help you and help you not hurt others and just if anything, just do not practice therapy on LIVE ever and on people who aren't your clients. You risk harming vulnerable people and losing the privilege of practicing therapy at all.

Although I have not gone through anything that you've gone through, there is someone near and dear to me who is struggling with mental health, body image, and thinking that she doesn't deserve good things in her life. Reuben makes a good point at the beginning of the episode that no matter who you are and what you're going through in life that there's still something to get from this episode. P.S. How damaging that his ex has to see all her own personal problems aired out for all to see, I personally know his ex and have been close friends with her for 10 years. Why give someone a platform to talk about someone else’s struggles when the other person has no way to defend themselves. That being said I could see how maybe SOME of his problems could relate to what was going on with her but if he “loves” and “cares” about her so much why was a heads up not given to the ex? Her family has seen this, it’s upsetting. Please do better.
@OnYourMental2 жыл бұрын
Hey Kennedy, thank you for bringing that perspective to our attention. We wouldn’t want to be encouraging conversations that are truly damaging to an individual in that way. Fair feedback, and we’ll keep in mind that our guest may want to give a heads up as you say to someone they mention in these talks. We make a point never to reveal personally identifying information about others not in the room, but of course if you know the person, that wouldn’t have the intended effect. In listening back to the conversation, it sounds like a couple minutes were spent talking about this other person in order to give context to the larger conversation & reflection. At multiple points Jas even states that part of this experience was “on him”. That he needed to learn to be a better person and even said that he wasn’t being a good person in the relationship. That ownership, responsibility, and growth is what this conversation is about. At the same time, it connected with others who perhaps have gone through, or are going through, something similar. We think there’s lots of value in that, but we’ll be more mindful of possible scenarios like this going forward. So again, thank you!

Greatttt question! Kabir - Kawhi Leonard, because it'd be the opposite of what you see from the man; opening up about his life and what he does to maintain his mental health while in a position that puts the spotlight on him so often. Reuben - Chris Bumstead, because he's incredibly dedicated to his craft, performing at the highest level, and I'd want to hear how he keeps that tenacity up and continues to improve on himself year after year while facing possible failure each time. Plus, he's Canadian.
