Saw them in 72 with the dead and almond brothers. Then again in 74 with Bob Dylan.

Cripple Creek transports this British lady to the South. I was fortunate enough to see The Band at Wembley in '73 along with Joni Mitchell and Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young.

Priceless footage of a band who, at their best, wrote some of the most essential songs ever. I have just read Robbie Robertson's 'Testimony', so this video is very timely.

The Allman brothers would play this same venue almost a year later, one of Duane Allman's last show before his death, and absolutely blow the roof off.

Always felt Richard got the short end of the stick on these Band videos. Best singer of group but u cant see him singing. Some people prob think Robbie was part of the vocal ensemble.

I know it’s hard to believe but there was once a time when instruments were actually played, people sang live, and songs were beautifully written…

When I think of great guitar players, I don’t think of Robbie Robertson. Now Richard Manuel, there is a genius on his instrument. Usual crap filming from this era. Better than nothing though.

the greatest band that ever took to the stage.not even a close second.the talent will never be matched, the song writing was second only to Dylan.perfect example of timeless music

Thanks. I'm glad I saw the Band in 1974 with Bob, in Santa Cruz just before the Last Waltz and again at the Last Waltz with everybody.

I’ve always said they’re the best of the best. I’ve read Across the Great Devine, This Wheels on fire etc. The truly sad part though is that except for Robbie they were broke and despite “The Last Waltz” they never received nearly the recognition they deserved.

Robbie was truly the one driving the band on stage. So maybe he did write the songs??

Robbie was the biggest talent in the Band. Excellent solo career. It really bugged Levon- who while an excellent singer- never had Robbie’s song writing ability.

I have been very lucky to have seen the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Grateful Dead, the Faces, Cream ,Flyiing Burrito Bros, Joe Walsh, Neil Young The Kinks, Bob Dylan, John Hiatt. Mavis Staples. Rod Stewar, Captain Beefhart, Ry Cooder, Muddy Waters, Country Joe, Otis Redding, and Co, Stevie Wonder, The Chiffons, Mary Wells, Bonnie Raitt, Albert King, Magic Sam, Muddy Waters, Van Morrisson, Johnny Shines,, Steven Stills, Rolling Stones, Donovan, the Hollies , Fleetwood Mac, Grateful Dead , the Faces and the Small Faces etc So much talent, but thE BAND were a group that were absolute unique. Perhaps there might be another BAND like them. I doubt it very much. Just a matter of taste.
