Mikaela, I just watched your second run at Kranjska Gora in the GS Jan. 7, 2023. You looked like you were trying to hop from one ski to the next. You end up skidding as you land on the hard, steep ice. That kind of technique works better on softer snow. The quickness and much less skidding in that case seems to generally pay off. However, Valerie Grenier showed how things should be done on this kind of course. You need to take a high line. You need to carve. You need to transition smoothly. You try not to get your skis significantly off the ground. When you land again, you skid. Compare Valerie Grenier's run (without any takeoffs) to yours. It is a lot smoother and faster. One very minor note is that you stuck your hand down to trigger the clock a bit earlier. The problem is you were lazy about it. You stuck it down right next to your leg, so that bought you almost nothing. You need to bend your body forward as you put your hand-arm down. Then you may trigger the laser perhaps a foot or more before your legs cross the finish line. If this action is worth doing, it is worth doing better than you did it. When I was racing, I found it worth doing. Are you having more trouble with the steepness and iciness than I think you are?
