As a seller since 2008’ I’ve had my best year in sales this year, but the fees have gotten so bad that it still seems lower profits overall. Ebay fees everything from the sale, shipping, store sub, and promoted listings is basically became extortion to even be seen or sell. I’m sure by now they see the writing on the wall though, the sellers are tapped out and buyers simply are leaving eBay because prices of items are so high now from sellers trying to past all their costs along that the checkmate scenario is finally here for them to sort out. Can’t wait to see what they do in 2025 when the shareholders start asking questions as to why eBay is losing market share steadily every year now? It’s not from competition either, Etsy and all the others are a mere spec of dust compared to eBay’s presence in the used market.

Thank you for commenting. I think you've noticed the same issues as I have. You see it quite often with companies who dominate their market like eBay, they see how far they can push the tolerance of their customer base. The difference is that there is now more competition than they've had before. As you say, certainly nowhere near the size of eBay but enough for them to start looking over their shoulder. I'm sure we'll see some big changes in 2025.
@StratocasterHemi

@ I agree 100% I sure do miss the old early days of EBay, maybe they will get back to some of the basics which made them what they became in the first place. I do agree that there may be some bigger changes this year, I don’t think they can continue on the current down sliding trajectory without doing something to trigger the company actually going upward in revenue’s instead of a 5-6 straight years of decline, I’m sure those shareholder meetings have been demanding some changes as they are tired of losing money and losing faith in the company all together , those shareholders get good and ornery when their profits turn to losses. Lol

I really enjoyed looking at your website and eBay shop as well as watching this video. I was wondering what your numbers were last year in terms of items listed. I see that you have around 330 items in your eBay shop at the moment. did you have a similar amount last year when people could have 1000 listings for free as opposed to the 300 they can have now? is that one of the reasons for the drop in the numbers. I only ask as I was trying to get a better understanding of the number of listings for sale and have they been consistent throughout those periods? I cant wait to visit your shop in Cardiff. I am based in Caerphilly myself. I noticed that you have an address in Bedwas too. is that a location visitors can come to? We have been wanting to visit the pump house ever since seeing it from the freeway when we visit the bay. One other question, what is your view on free shipping. Is this something you try and incorporate into your price or do you charge shipping?
@taliesinantiques
@taliesinantiques 24 күн бұрын
Thank you so much for your comment and support, nice to hear that you're local to me too! Last year I had either the same amount of listing or less, I couldn't see anywhere on eBay where it could say the exact amount but I know from memory it wouldn't have been more. On free shipping, that's an interesting one and I'm not certain if it works better or not. I'll probably keep it on my website because it just makes the decision for the buyer more straightforward - on eBay I can't say I've noticed a huge difference. The unit in Bedwas can be opened to visitors, to be honest it needs a bit of tidy because there's stock everywhere 😂 a visit would be a good incentive to sort it out! Thank you again, drop me a message through the website if you wanted to arrange a visit to there or the pumping station and I'll make sure I'm around 👍

Great video. My sales on eBay have declined massively year on year. That said, my Etsy sales are down by 70 percent compared to last November. I have just deleted 400 items on eBay and downgraded my shop subscription. I now have more items on Vinterior as at least it's free to list. It's the listing fees that are a real killer. Vinted, Depop and Vinterior are all free to list, so I hope eBay come up with a similar fee structure next year.

Thanks Lesley, appreciate you watching again 🙂 Have to agree on eBay over the years, their high fees are becoming less and less competitive. It will be interesting to see how they respond. Also interesting to hear that of your sales on Etsy. As I mentioned in the video, I didn't really get on with it - I thought their fees were not much lower than eBay but their traffic was a lot less! A 70% drop in huge, have you found Etsy has declined at a similar rate to eBay?

@@taliesinantiques Hi Kieran. Sales down 74% YOY on Etsy. Sales down 27% on eBay. That said, I have changed my selling strategy quite a lot. Started selling in the physical shop and also on Vinterior, so obviously sales are now spread over different platforms. My new strategy is to list the most on those platforms that are free to list and be very selective about what I list on pay to list sites. Hope eBay change their fee structure next year. This Christmas is a flop really. Even in the shop people aren't spending like they did in the summer. Keep up the good work with the videos. It's great to compare notes. Lesley
