Generations of humans lived in these structures. They raised families. They argued. They celebrated. They made love. They committed horrors. It was full of life. And then full of death. And then full of life. And then full of death. Occupied. Vacant. Occupied. Vacant.

The well watcher was an important role in society then. Anyone could just throw poison into the community well if they wanted to. But there was no such thing as a well watcher. Because why would anyone poison a well? What incentive could there be for someone to do such a thing? And why is that something people think could happen in the first place? in a society without running water on tap, desalinization, sewage treatment, waste management, animal-borne diseases transmitted to the farmers, killing such a large number of people would actually only harm yourself. Your survival and welfare are interdependent on the survival of all the people in your village. A well is an indispensible survival resources to everyone in a society where wells are still relied upon as a source of water for drinking. Pre-industrialized primitive societies. Anyone with malicious intent as such would ultimately be harming themselves even if they were never caught. The consequences are too severe even for a serial killer. but it's the first thing that comes to mind when someone sees a well. They say a little prayer to excuse the faith they have that the water won't be poisoned or otherwise contaminated. It crosses their mind every time they drink from it. A falcon carrying a diseased rat could just as likely perch on the rim of the well and as it eats the rat the entrails accidentally fall in. And yet there is no such thing as a well watcher. there's no such thing

Elias did not fear the void. He welcomed it. The cold, empty darkness that others fled from was his sanctuary. His favourite tracks were those from Vyormouth, dragging him down, but lifting him up. Bringing to reality the raw emotion he felt when hearing them, when seeking them. At times, Elias would use this music to drift into a restless sleep. The dark, haunting sounds would lull him into a state of uneasy slumber, where the boundaries between the waking world and the void blurred. In his dreams, he would wander through endless corridors of darkness, the music weaving through the air like a malevolent spirit, guiding him deeper into the unknown. Yet, even in these dreams, he never fully let go. There was always a part of him that clung to the waking world, tethered by the faintest thread of consciousness. Many called him strange, but he had always found the void to call him, whispering, speaking, screaming. to come closer. to embrace it. Indeed, Elias found comfort in the bite of the cold, in the way it nipped at his skin, reminding him that he was still alive, still tethered to this world by the faintest of threads. And though he preferred the cold, when the heat came, overbearing and brutal, he did not seek relief. He let it sear him, welcomed the way it scorched his lungs with every breath. It was a reminder of the fire that still burned within him, even as he teetered on the edge of oblivion. Yet, there was a part of Elias that wondered: did he truly find peace in the void, or was it the safety of life’s thin veil that he clung to? Was it the darkness he loved, or the warmth of the light that barely held it at bay? Was it the pain in the music that resonated with him, or the fleeting moments of relief when the dissonance faded into a haunting, fragile melody? Perhaps, he mused, it was not the void itself that he longed for, but the safety of knowing he could pull back at any moment. The void was a test, a measure of his will, of his strength to resist its call. And in that resistance, he found a twisted sense of satisfaction, a perverse pleasure in defying the very thing he craved. In the end, Elias knew that the void would always be there, waiting patiently for him to slip, to let go of the veil that separated him from it. But for now, he found solace in the darkness, in the cold, in the heat, in the music that tore at his soul. He found safety not in the void, but in the knowledge that he could face it, stand on the precipice, and choose, for just a little while longer, to remain. And so, Elias would continue to walk the line between light and darkness, between life and the void, finding peace not in the embrace of the void itself, but in the fragile, tenuous grip he maintained on the edge of existence.

Sadly KZbin did not recommend me this video, so I had no idea you came back to making these amazing atmospheres. I like these emotions, they are very mysterious and invokes child like wonder. There's no way someone out there is not gonna use this music for their game. It's simply to perfect to not be used in such regard. I'm using a couple of your songs in my game as you already know. Truth is development has been at a halt, I struggle finding motivation and get caught up in a perfectionism mindset. At first, I wanted my game to be this massive open world that was mostly empty. Overtime I realized there was not enough substance to withstand players attention. That's why I decided on not creating your typical backrooms game... Instead I'm going for a slimmed down version of it. Trimming the fat and providing players the meat, but I'm still trying to figure out how to execute that plan effectively. Each environment has to be tailored to the complement the game's atmosphere. It's more than just designing rooms, it's ensuring that what you're seeing is evoking the emotions I want the player to feel. It's much more complicated than just making a typical game, and it's much more complex than your typical backrooms style game. I want my game to feel alive, I want it to make you feel something. That's why I love your creations, they make you feel something.

Once more we enter those accursed woodlands, where the line between animal and botanical is blurred into a mess of bark and bone; red sap and gnarled joints. Stay close, for the powers of the old gods who once occupied them yet linger in the twisted foliage. We must not stay long, as one may find themselves becoming part of that forest which ever smells of copper. Don't believe me? Listen to the wind which blows through the canopy, and you too shall hear the voices of the trees humming in the calcified branches.

The weeks and months in the aftermath, investigators combed through that port town trying to figure out what happened to the people who lived there. Hundreds of people all walking into the sea never to be seen again. No bodies. No clothes. No notes. And it happened again, at another lighthouse. And another. And another. At first the media said it was just a coincidence. People speculated it was a cult, but the lighthouse disappearances were all people of varying faiths. Some atheists even. Then the panic began to set in, after the 12th one in a single month. Governments began to take it seriously. Japan and Korea demolished all their lighthouses out of fear of the mass hysteria affecting their population that is already suffering catastrophic suicide rates. It was happening everywhere, and the more it happened, the more people lost hope, and the more people did it. In the midst of it, many people believed that they were safe. They went about their lives convinced those were just depressed impressionable people. "There must be a rational explanation for this. It will all be back to normal soon. Business as usual." But in the end, the last people were wondering why they shouldn't just do it too? Why didn't they do it yet? Why haven't they been compelled the way everyone else had? "What's wrong with me?" How many were left? There were no more broadcasts. No news papers. No fuel. No economy. No phone, radio, internet. The nights were quiet, dark, and starless. The only light the last people could see were the lighthouses.
