Slightly wrong on this one, the Hammer of Light were a bunch of Vasudans who believed the Shivans were the "Destroyers" of their ancient prophecies, and thus they turned on both the PVE and the GTA in their fanaticism to do as much damage to aid the Shivans' cause as they possibly could. You end up wiping out the last of them in Operation Templar, the Freespace 2 multiplayer campaign, but they pop up through most of the first game, even nearly stopping you from reaching the node to hunt the Lucifer in the second to last mission.

The best voice imitator EVER of ANYBODY. I remember the first time I came across Volkman doing Harry on the air; I knew it was actually Harry,......didn't even think twice about it...until he started saying totally outrageous things, after which I caught on. Absolutely brilliant and, as I recall, Caray himself was not happy about it, and even threatened legal action! Somewhere I have a cassette tape that I quickly threw in to record A segment with Harry AND DEVON (!) I laugh just thinking about it. How much more of this brilliant guy's on-air performances is out there, I wonder?

I think that most of the DJs in the midwest that could listen to Kevin, did. He got to do, exactly what all of us dreamed to do. What a cast of characters he gave us. I used to tape, on cassette, or video tape, his shows every day if I couldn't listen live. I still source his material to this very day, in my real life. A true legend.

@@danwentz Hey happy new year! I had a chance to try Stadium. I really liked the teleporter -> windtunnel -> door open -> door lock sequence, reminded me of descent 2 level 16 where there was a sequence of disappearing and reappearing forcefields. I also had no idea you could have a functioning reactor and exit sequence in challenge mode. There also appeared to be overlapping weapon spawns here and there. All the best!

Did you play the music yourself? Or did you manage to extract it somehow? And Most importantly: if so, is there a link to download the soundtracks, because they are just awesome
@danwentz6 жыл бұрын
Marzelmusik Thank you! Yes, that is me playing and providing sound. I actually prepared these updates for the Hard Light Project years ago. None of the many updates I’ve done with them are currently available as a soundtrack... but now that Overload is nearly completed maybe I’ll do something about that. Better yet, maybe we Revival-ize this franchise next!
@Marzelmusik6 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a good idea. Recently i was thinking, what could be done to finally complete the story (I played FS and FS2 again recently)? My first thought was to write Freespace 3 with the help of the original writers(because they might still have the original ideas) and find someone to make it a game. Then i thought about a movie. Eventually i thought one could make a TV series about the GTVA pilots. But These things would be quite costly obviously. After all this time it would be cool to know what happened to Admiral Bosch and who or what are the shivans? Why do they cause supernovas and create Nebula systems(ressource mining?)? And so on. It would be really cool if you managed to take on this franchise.
@EternalModerate6 жыл бұрын
Marzelmusik Unless Interplay goes bankrupt, Revival wont be able to make a FS3 because they don't own the IP rights. A spiritual successor on the other hand... If your curious as to Volition's plans for FS3's story, check this out: wiki.hard-light.net/index.php/Interview_with_Jason_Scott There's also some excellent fan made FS2 sequels out there, Blue Planet probably being the best. You should check those out if you haven't already.

That said, we have the Torch which is based on the same ship and I have been hired to do the sound and music. I am from the original team at Parallax Software/Volition from 1995-2009. Unfortunately I don't find this as good as the original one. The music lacks the power and general hopelessness which the original track so strongly possessed. The new voice over is good though to be honest I prefer the more depressing, emotionless voice actress which the original video had. Nice work either way.

Oh wow, when was the Ancients cutscene integrated into the fan made vasuda burns cut scene? I have to say, that is very awesome. It raises the impact of both of them while also making them take up less time (what was it before? something like 5 minutes or more of cutscene?)
