WOW! Just WOW!

OMG, just great. An unbelievable staging and a ballet that made sense for a change. All in all, supremely artistic. Bravo La Scala Just saw the new, inane MetOpera production (twice) - just awful staging and sets and a ridiculous ballet and nonsensical archaeologists dropping in. No wonder why the MetOpera is having financial issues. Fortunately (and most importantly) the Met production had great singing with Piotr Beczala, Angel Blue, and Quinn Kelsey. And yes, I would go see it again at the Met with that cast (just need to keep my eyes closed).

It's a striking scene, true grand opera, but the camera work is atrocious, restless and focusing on things of little importance while missing the important activities on the stage.

Na ja, die Zürcher Aufführung 1997 mit Harnoncourt und Schaaf hatte einiges mehr musikalischen Pepp und kluge Szenen.

I wish this had subtitles. This production had the most historically accurate costume and set design. Bravo! Bellisimo!

This is a great production and the way this opera should be performed.

I enjoy grand productions of this grand opera. But there is much too much extraneous movement, which means that the stage direction is poor.

Aida is such a though opera to perform! For everybody: tenor, baritone, mezzo and especially soprano.

The entire channel dedicated to Aida. Wow🎂

Terrible editing. Each clip is like 2 seconds long. Very disrupting. It's the editing style for kids' programs.

With this performance and knowing that both Baltsa and Domingo actually played Santuzza and Turiddu at a 1990 version of Cavalleria Rusticana, makes perfect sense why a lot of people sees a common path between both Santuzza and Amneris development, being the only difference that one is a main coprotagonist and the other is the main antagonist on their respective stories (and Santuzza slightly more soprano-like than Amneris herself should be), and even both getting a curse scene at the key break point on their own, though Amneris does this to the Priests of Isis including Ramfis after Radames trial and sentence punishment which she in vain attempts to undone and atone pleading for it so on her curse against them she kinda foresees the doom of Egyptian religion later on, whereas Santuzza does a looming doom for Turiddu on breaking with her.

Agnes Baltsa sings AMAZINGLY eventhough it´s another more soprano-like approach to Amneris character which makes her actually closer to Aida herself and henceforth harder to being easily differenciated by both the audience and Radames on how to choose between them on relevance, whereas usually seems it works better when she is more contralto-like then so the contrast is more striking albeit on that voice diferentiation, her role is even improved on the own vocal color and other feature attributes to each voice type on their own without the issue of getting complicated for confusion as both more alike between themselves. Still it´s a very VALID ALTERNATIVE for Amneris development too, and that´s why herself - as Carmen too - happens to be a full central archetypical MEZZO at core whchi might go into closer to soprano in their highest and closer to contralto at the lowest, and something else in between on the middle as a true MEZZO ought to be, and well it seems all kinds of mezzos might acheive it on their own, eventhough lower ones have a special upper hand as a proper Dramatical Mezzo type must be.

All scene has very beautiful.The music,the dancers ,the costumes...Masterpiece.M❤

Wow, what a grand production! The orchestra, costumes, sets, lighting, choreography, sound and of course dance are all magnificent. The videography not so much. Felt like the cameras were always a count behind anything moving and never showed you what you wanted to see. Actually gave me headache from eye strain.

The good old day, I just saw a pix of a new Aida in Rouen where Radames and Aida are having sex in bed before he sings the Celeste Aida, Eurotrash which is unfortunately also washing up on US shores especially at the Met with that stupid Peter Gelb and his whole gang of ignorant sycophants, that goes for some singers too.

And I'm once again reminded why I love Wagner.
