One of worst cities in America. It's pathetic. Sadly, I have spend more than half my life around Hartford. Working and even lived in hartford for a time. It's a horrible city. It doesn't even have a grocery store in downtown. It's horrible. They have this lovely big river right through Hartford and what did they do ? They put 8 lane highway RIGHT ON THE RIVER. Blocking the entire RIVEr. Let that sink in. Then you can factor in everything else its horrible. They allow graffitt all over the city, they still in 2024 have some mural for George Floyd. That is right, the drug addict criminal that died 2000 miles away, these fools are worshipping him as if he lives in the city. I could on and on..horrible city, cared for horriblyt. Zero redeeming value, except you can get to Boston or NYC in 2 hours if you wanted to.

My favorite hangout was Johnson’s bookstore in the back where comics were six for a quarter.

Hartford used to be a fun little city. Bad schools, high poverty rates, and crime pretty much turned it into a 9 to 5 city. The state has put billions of dollars into revitalizing downtown, but neglected the core of real issues facing Hartford. Investing more in public education would help help more than sprucing up downtown. Hartford has some great attractions, the most beautiful state capitol building in the country, the Wadsworth Atheneum, Hartford Stage Company, Mark Twain House, to name a few. City leadership in Hartford lacks vision and ability to turn things around. I wonder if the state should take over the schools could help turn things around, or if school administration should be at the county level. Suburban schools are much better. The state has seen very low return on investment for the money it's poured into Hartford.

I live for a time there many years back, and don't recognize the newer buildings. My favorite spot in the downtown was the city park. And also think the Capitol Building is one of the most beautiful Capitol Buildings in the country.

And boy do I love those pre war buildings. They are so precious.

From the feedback and perception , Springfield would conjure thoughts of urban blight and so. It is actually neat and tidy , at least from what I see. Of all MA towns , Springfield is the only I never went to.

Proud to say, I am a born, raised and still living in this wonderful city. Whoever doesn't like it, don't worry, we don't need you, move somewhere else. Bye Felicia. Springfield has change for the better, and it's beautiful. I remember back in the 90's how empty the downtown area looked. And look at it now. Some cities change for the worse in where you see abandoned stores, houses, and just a complete fail, Springfield in the other hand has grown.
