I was born in Hungary, but moved to the United States when I was three years old. I still speak Hungarian, but cannot read or write it. From what I understand the letters Q, W, X, and Y aren’t used in the Hungarian language… Is this true?
@takacsattila40556 ай бұрын
we use them mainly (only?) in words of foreign origin, x is the most common on its own (taxi, lexicon, saxophone), q is always followed by u (q+u), the lonely y uses to stand only at the end of first names instead of i (Ferenczy, Lovassy, Karinthy)

Very interesting how many words sound very similar to Slavic languages, i.e., Serbian, as well as some words from Austria, like “Semmel” → zsemle. This makes this language easier to learn, at least for me. Thank you for the nice video!

Many hungarian and slavic words were exchanged during 1100 years of living next to each other, or in cases in the same country. I was surprised how many words are similar to hungarian in serb and croatian. :)

I grew up in Dearborn in the 1950s-1960s, and even lived in Allen Park for 2-1/2 years 1954-1958, and did not know there were so many Hungarians there! I’m 100% Hungarian from my father’s side-how I would have loved meeting fellow Hungarians and learning about my people and their traditions.

do you always roll the r's? or are there certain rules to when the rolling applies?

I think there is a slight difference between singular and double 'r'-s in words. We roll those double 'rr'-s in our words way harder compared to the singular 'r'-s. In my opinion the single 'r' -s in Hungarian is less rolled compared to languages like Polish. But I'm not a language expert, just personal thoughts

I am pretty sure it is a resist which is removed after the dye has set. I would love to know what the resist and the dye are made from. Is the dye made from plants or minerals? How is the resist made?
