10:28 "i wish i cared less" girl... been there. been. there. 13:13 i've said the exact same thing to myself. i was working on a lambskin leather jacket with decorative sleeve straps, and after applying 8 straps to the sleeves & topstitching, i had to stop and gather myself before attempting sleeve installation. saw this on reddit, and now youtube surfaced this to me. so glad i found this video, because i really wanted to ask how you built that wonderful structure into that collar/back panel. this is excellent work. also, huge shout out to your machine for fighting through all those layers of leather & twill. others have mentioned AI, and the ethics of its uses. i've made the same mistakes, especially when it comes to concepting garments. but, hey, as long as we learn, right?

Thank you guys for both the support but also for holding me accountable for the content in my videos. I am not going to make excuses for choices I make, but this video was definitely not meant to promote the use of AI art, but I can see that it can come across that way, or at best be ignorant of the issues surrounding it. Some of it I knew but was lost in the editing (my fault - of course), and some aspects I was less aware of, but have since read up on. I will strive to be more vigilant in the future when it comes to topics my videos deal with. Have a beautiful day, and thank you for being here!

To me, if you take cottagecore and flip it to dark academia color palette, you get whimsigoth. Might be a good way to add other style silhouettes to dark academia, especially seasonally, while keeping it cohesive. (This is basically my goal wardrobe and style haha)

She’s gorgeous! I think that using AI for inspiration like this is one of the few good uses for it. It’s like using a ton of different reference pictures, and taking small pieces out of all of them.

how about not telling that gen ai had steal billons of creators and artist to constituted database ; my art was stolen , and when you generated one image it used so much liter of water that it"s a ecological catastrophy. all this topic are wel known in 2024. not being informed about this is a problem....

Using ai adds to the problem...they are horrible. They steal from people. They hurt the environment for the buildings the programs have to be housed in and they expel so many gasses into the atmosphere but go ahead and used them :(

Looks great. Love the embroidery, but i can't make my backs look the same as the front when i embroider, so that works have been really tricky for me
@heidihillhomeАй бұрын
Oh, my embroidery is definitely not the same on the back as the front either, but the back is hidden between two layers of fabric, so I let it be a bit messy :)
@srs9130Ай бұрын
It had looked like the interface with the drawing was the front side@@heidihillhomeas that's how I would have used it, or drawn on the front of the satin directly, which was why I had tight your front and back eye the same. It looked really good

Can you give some more advice on the collar ? I am sewing this pattern right not and my collar points never seem to fold in correctly.
@heidihillhome2 ай бұрын
Hmmm.. how exactly do you mean? Do the points not hit the yoke front right? Or are they not as pointy as you would like? Could it be that the seam allowance needs more clipping to fold in correctly? Let me know if I am misunderstanding the question ☺️
@AnnaBolhuis2 ай бұрын
I mean that the they don’t fold over the front yoke point nicely. I end up with a tuck. I follow the pattern accordingly and it doesn’t seem to work. Do I need to clip the neckline to make it fold in the way it needs to ?

You should use Hand Quilting thread, buttonhole thread, or upholstery thread, all heavier thread, when doing a ladder stitch on heavy fabric.

I very much agree ☺️

Putting double sided tape or anything sticky like this will leave glue on your needle, you need to clean that off before carrying on with your sewing. Lighter fluid will clean any adhesive off.

@@heidihillhome I used to work in a shoe repair shop and we often did other work like putting zips in bags. The sewing machines used in these shops don’t have a bed where you can rest what you are repairing on, you have to hold the item up and turn the wheel with your other hand. We used double sided tape to hold a zip in place while we stitched and it always left a residue on the needle. If you attempted to stitch any thing it would drag through the material making it difficult to get a good neat result.
@lynettehansen22033 ай бұрын
I’ve used the stitch to snug up a pair of jeans. It doesn’t have to be a matching colour or regular size thread so it doesn’t show. Doing the “dart” completely vertically eliminates the difference in the waist band as well. If you have a strong thread that is even remotely close in colour it works great!
@heidihillhome3 ай бұрын
Yes, a stronger thread would definitely help :) I use a ladder stitch a lot, but mainly in cases where I cannot access the back of the fabric :)
