Love this!! Can you do a video on your best organization and time-efficient/management tips for this field. Also a report writing efficiency video?

Thank you, Naija! Yes, I can definitely make those videos! Those are both great ideas! Without tips and tricks for staying organized and efficiently writing reports, it is so easy to miss important deadlines and get bogged down with paperwork.

gotta question about the line, "where their IQ is within the 80's and their academics is within the 80's" at around 13:10.... are you referring to kids with an IQ in the 80's who pull an average classroom grade in the 80's (B's)? im concerned because I was a C student growing up and recently tested in the 96th percentile on the ASVAB (military entrance IQ test with a .75ish G-factor correlation)... are you saying there are kids with IQs in the 80's who pull B's more or less across the board? I feel so insecure having heard you say that haha also im considering becoming an SP. im sure men are quite rare in the field. what strengths, if any, have you noticed men bringing to the table as SP's as compared to women (and vice-versa)? thanks!

Hi Joshua! Thank you so much for your question! Congratulations on scoring in the 96th percentile! That’s awesome! It is not uncommon for bright students to not get straight As in school. That could be due to many factors. For example, motivation, home situations hindering them from being able to focus on academics, and boredom…just to name a few. With regard to the 80’s IQ and performing in the 80’s on the academic assessment, I was referring to the testing given as a part of the special education evaluation process. Scores below 85 are typically considered below average. Having an IQ and most/all academic test scores in the low 80’s range indicates that the student is performing within their ability level and, typically, they do not qualify for special education though they may struggle to get Bs and As in school. I think the special education field can definitely benefit from having more males!!!

Do some school psychologists in public schools get summer breaks as well?
@Schoolpsych

Hi Rachelle! That is a great question! Yes, we get summer breaks! Some districts might have their psychs work the week before and/or after the school year begins and ends, and other districts have you end at the same time as everyone else. The nice thing about working before and/or after is that it’s a great time to get organized.

Thank you very much for the information 🙏🏻❤️have you happened to do a testing for a child who shows aggressive behaviors ?🙏🏻does it happen a lot ? Or just rarely Thank you very much for your response

Hi Rosa! Thank you for your question! Yes, I have done testing on children with aggressive behavior. The frequency of testing students with aggressive behavior depends on the program/programs your school has. For example, if a school has a classroom that is specialized for students with Emotional Disturbance or severe Autism, then the probability with working with students with aggression is higher, but for many students (even the ones in general education), they typically have an aid available to help you during testing. What helps is being highly aware of their triggers and what positively reinforces them to comply without behaviors. I hope this helps!
