I just received my holster and can not give you a review on its quality yet, but I can say that the customer service is non existent. I sent at least 3 maybe 4 emails to customer service about some critical info on CC billing. I got absolutely zero response from them. I dont have much faith in a company that will not respond to its customers regardless of the quality of their product.
@lwrcM6A2DEA4 жыл бұрын
Mine is total junk and their customer service totally sucks. I'm pissed that I waited over a month and spent $120 on a holster that has such tight retention that there is no way you can even draw your firearm. The screws don't have enough thread to adjust the holster. They have yet to respond to a single email...even my first 4 very pleasant ones asking for help with the problem or if longer screws were available for purchase. This guy is getting a kickback from stealthjunk holsters for sure.

The appendix one looks like you can get access to the trigger very easy. That doesn't look safe. I'm suprised a firearm instructor would not see that. Maybe stealth gear paid him to look the other way. Typical.
@preppercontv74887 жыл бұрын
Hi Jameson, thank you for your comment. No, we are not paid by companies to give favorable interviews. If you were to inspect all of the holsters personally, you'll see that they all protect the trigger completely. There is no access to manipulate the trigger when the gun is fully seated in the holster, including the appendix. What you might be seeing is that the bottom of the trigger guard is visible. The kydex fits tightly around both sides of it though, sealing the trigger guard assembly and trigger from access. It would be impossible for someone to insert their finger into the trigger without snapping the kydex in half by using something such as pliers or a screwdriver. Remember also that this is an IWB holster and the whole trigger guard is tucked inside the waistband, making it not visible and extremely inaccessible to even touch. There is no risk to negligent discharge while the firearm is holstered. The only time the trigger is exposed is once the firearm is drawn, which is exactly what it's designed for. Otherwise, I would never recommend it to my students or PrepperCon's attendees. I'd encourage you to purchase one and try it out. If you don't like it, you can always return it.
@jamesoncross74947 жыл бұрын
PrepperCon TV I saw another firearm instructor put their finger in the holster from the backside when the gun was in the holster and pull the trigger. He said if you can do this, then it's possible for it to happen. I would have to agree. I like these holsters a lot. He had a good point. Try it. If you can't figure it out, we can make a friendly wager and I'll put my money where my mouth is, per sa.
@preppercontv74887 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jameson. I'll take a look in a few weeks when I'm back to where I keep that holster. I'll stand corrected if it's possible to do. I'm not at all in favor of holsters that don't cover the trigger. There are pocket holsters, underwear holsters, and some belly bands and compression shirts with pouches that cover the trigger, but loosely. My principal concern in all of them is not keeping it from being fired by an attacker while holstered, because in a concealed configuration it's not likely. There's more risk of it being pulled completely from the holster because the holster doesn't have a thumb break or other retention device. That leaves the self-caused negligent discharge from an object being introduced into the trigger (shirt, fabric, etc). As long as the holster material is sufficiently stiff and taut, the risk of this happening is very minimal. Still, every individual needs to come up with their own policy on what configuration they will carry their firearm with those particular holsters. If it means engaging an active safety or not having a round chambered, that's an individual choice I don't discourage people from making. I only stress consistency in the configuration they carry and incorporating that into their training draw. At any rate, I have no concerns with the Appendix holster and the degree to which it covers the trigger because it does so far better than a neoprene pouch, a nylon holster, spandex, etc. Nevertheless, I'll let you know if I discover what you say is true.

I have a StealthGear Onyx for my Kahr CM9. I've only used it a couple of times, but with a smaller body frame I find that it takes up too much real estate on my body, and the double clips are a hassle for me. I've considered selling it and possibly getting the appendix carry holster because it's smaller, but I don't want to carry appendix style. Do you or your students ever use the SG appendix carry holster on other parts of your body, say at the 4 o'clock position? Does it work well in other positions besides appendix carry?
@preppercontv74887 жыл бұрын
Yes, I have the appendix carry that I use in the small of the back as well (just off the to the side of the spine). I believe they now came out with a slim holster that has two clips, but it's about the same width as the appendix so it's the best of both worlds. It may be that they just make all the appendix holsters with two clips now. The appendix carry holster is great for shorts, tight shirts, or any occasion when having the full Onyx is profiling on the hip too much.
@kevinbunnell73807 жыл бұрын
Do you ever wear the appendix at around the 4:00 position? I'm wondering if you can wear it comfortably at that position. It looks like it doesn't have the cant that the Onyx does, but I don't know that that's a big deal. Not sure about the small of the back -- is that uncomfortable when sitting? I see that they have the SG Onyx Mini that looks like the original Onyx but it appears to be a little smaller holster with two clips. Not sure about that one -- it appears to be some smaller, but still not sure of the size, and I'm not sure if I'm a fan of having two clips to hassle with when putting it on and taking it off. Seems like a holster the size of their new Scorpion holster without the claw would be the ideal size, and it just has one fatter clip. Anyway, just wondering about your thoughts on carrying the appendix carry in the "typical" 4:00 position, and whether it works well in that location. Any thoughts are appreciated.
@preppercontv74887 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, you always want two clips if it doesn't take too much space. It really helps anchor the holster to your belt which is essential for drawing. The original appendix holster with one clip does cant quite well, but I'm not sure about the mini or those with 2 clips. It's definitely not more of a hassle to put on. They're quick release and you're probably not taking it on and off all day. I do carry at the 4 o'clock position, but not very often. Anytime it's behind the back, tighter t-shirts don't usually work that well because of the printing, especially when bending over. Any 4 o'clock or position farther back also generally requires moving the whole holster to a 3 o'clock when sitting down for a long time or driving. A thicker button down or jacket can cover it well, especially for a sub compact or micro frame, so it's just a matter of preference.

I had a eye opener this last January. My wife and I decided to take the frontage road on I-70 and didn't realize how deep the snow had gotten. Well long story short, we got stuck for almost 10 hours. I had just reorganized my Get Home Bag for cold weather and it came in very handy to say the least. My goal in 2017 is to replicate my other bags and make separate winter and summer bags. Also do more networking in my area.

Great comments. That sucks though. I do the same for the different seasons and for almost every trip over 60 miles from home I add to or take away from the gear in my rig. As I made my trip today I knew it would be sub 0 F so I added more gear and supplies just in case. Didn't need em but I felt at ease as my vehicles display of the outside temperature reached a low of -22F!

Planning is vital in everything we do in life. My family has multiple plans for different scenarios and events. Like most plans they always seem to be interfered by Murphys Law, so having alternative plans is a must. Moving to Salt Lake has been challenging since we know very few people here and lost our network of people when we moved. So right now we are making multiple plans in case we have to leave the area or hunker ldown. We started tilling for a spring garden and figuring out a water pump system for a close irrigation canal. As for getting out of dodge, we have been working through multiple routes on highways, sideroads and even mountain roads to make it to our cabin. Trying to figure out fuel consumption is the hardest part right now since the multitude of routes and distances. We would love to find like minded people in the area if it comes down to staying in the area. As for food, water and medical supplies it's always an ongoing endeavor. I had a similar experience going to New Zealand a couple years ago. I had to explain my medical kit more than once. Thanks for another great show.

Cass, thanks for listening! I'm very glad you like the show! We don't maintain a list of groups as the ones we know of are very exclusive/private and really not any kind of 'official' group. Being new to an area can be difficult to make connections at first. If I were you I would be just as weary at joining a group as any group would be weary of adding new people. Keep looking, listing and watching and you'll make some connections i'm sure. We have been planning on taking a show to talk about this topic. I guess we should move it up toward the top of the list.
