Always wondered how they got a lower level into the J2. Does not seem tall enough.

The worst mistakes were improper scaling, as the size of the Gemini 12/Jupiter II really didn't allow for living space or equipment/craft stowage. There wasn't any possible way that either the buggy or the shuttlepod could be fit into the main craft due to it's small size, just like all of the inner decks they kept adding over the seasons.

I can't see how they expected us to understand how all that equipment and Chariot fit in that thing. It didn't make sense when I was a kid watching the show back in the 60's.

Great "virtual tour"; wish this was a real thing, but for production value, considering this was created using a virtual set, I'd say they did a pretty great job!

I love the Jupiter 2 but the one problem I always had with it was that it was way too small for 7 people to live and work in. Also, it was too small to store the Chariot in. The model of the Jupiter 2 should have been at least ten times bigger than what was portrayed on TV.

I enjoyed lost in space too . I often wondered why some of these spacecraft designs weren’t employed after the Apollo program . All nasa needed was a way to get the vehicle up there . The largest rocket engine created was the satern5 . Which in hindsight was more than adequate to do the job . The luner lander took up a lot of space so the only thing that really need to change was the dementions of the satern5 . But none of that ever happened .

Jupiter II is a multi dimensional ship. It gets bigger on the inside. It's equipt with all the conveniences an all terrain chariot, a space pod has plenty of storage for a multitude of long lasting supply of food most likely nonperishable and equipment of all kinds jet pack included.. Elevator goes to second deck there's even a third deck the engine core. That's introduced as Will is trying to get away from possessed Dr. Smith in episode 'Space Creature ' season 3.... Where's the bathroom?... Laundry?...However the Jupiter is not only for kids as a home but for all. Certainly would make a fantastic home to live in. ✨💫🌟👍

that does not look like the Jupiter2. Looks like the ship from the pilot - it had 1 floor and bigger windows than the Jupiter 2.

On thing that annoyed me was when the J2 landed on a new planet, they disembarked via a leg/stairway on the lower half of the ship, but when they were 'camped' on a planet, access was through a hatch on the top half of the ship , and the engine etc was buried in planetary debris. How and why would you do that IRL ?

This video is great in terms of CGI and models. The only flaw is the audio. It's distracting that when the narrator is supposed to be outside, there's very noticeable reverb in his voice. Yet the voiceover doesn't have reverb.

4:30 "...two paper plates..." I made a number of iterations of that. One or two of the final versions had a threaded bolt and a domed chrome lugnut through the center of the ship to keep the upper and lower sections from collapsing. It was fairly intricate and it took me a minute or so before I remembered the details of the actual construction.

What an incredible recreation! looks pretty mindblowing ,thats for sure! In regards to the Always mentioned size discrepancy of the craft, that it can in no way hold all of what they showed in the show, consider this: Actual real alien craft can indeed be larger on the inside than the outside..there are documented cases of people witnessing the outer appearance of a craft and then being taken onboard where it is vastly larger...Such craft are occupying more than one dimension of space time, with the outer view of the craft being in our dimension but the interior of it being in a different dimensional space ,thus its inner measurements do not have to align with its outer appearance.... while its more a case of fanciful writing as far as the Jupiter 2, such anomalies Do exist as far as UFO reports..

Dammit! I just saw this video for the first time and was going to Google when the next Sci-Fi Air Show was going to be so I could begin planning my airline tickets and travel itinerary! Then find out this is not real. So sad... The Jupiter 2 is very cool, but I would have loved to see a full-sized Eagle from Space 1999 in the flesh! Guess I'll still be waiting...

Not nearly big enough to have an entire lower deck with the "galley" and "sleeping quarters" not to mention the engine room. Yes, I know it's just a big model.

I always thought that the Jupiter 2 was the forerunner of the Tardis. It was larger on the inside than the outside, having a frequently seen 2nd deck that is larger than area available. It also had a 3rd engineering deck which I believe appeared in only one episode. I guess they needed the space for all the equipment, which was more voluminous that the ship itself.
