Certainly, I ran Hawk DTC70's on the front and 60's on the back, if I recall correctly. They're not my favorite pads I wasn't comfortable in compressing the brake zones with them further than what I had. My choice bad is the Raybestos ST47 pad. I will be back in Daytona this coming October with those pads, they've been difficult to acquire but I have them currently on the car with some spares so they should hold out until then. The Hawk's also wear out quite quickly (few days) and the Raybestos last for several events.

@@fronkies1LECamaro May 2023 I popped two pistons and spun two rod bearings myself. Had the engine rebuilt last December. Figured was a good time to add a cam since it was being rebuilt.

He must have been unhappy lol. I tried to find him afterwards to say good job but never found him! 🤣

Not a good kind of damper, I understand that pain. I blew mine on a Friday and still had to come back Saturday and Sunday to instruct students. Added insult to injury.

It’s a SS 1LE and at this time it had a heads and cam package from Katech in it, since then though the car dropped a valve and I had to replace the motor. However I kept the American Racing long tube headers with high flow cats on it. Always has had the stock mufflers on it. Wheels here are OE wheels, and tires are the GY SC3. Pads here were Hawks but I prefer the Raybestos ST47 as they’re more consistent and last longer.

The best place to go to would be www.motorsportsreg.com and look for different events at various tracks. I see in one comment you said you live in the Daytona area. The Audi Club (who I've run with) held this event and typically do one event a year at Daytona. Chin Track Days was supposed to have an event later this month but it got cancelled. SCCA typically does a Track Night in America and it's a good time, I've seen Daytona on their schedule. However I recommend the website I referenced at first, Daytona is not a difficult track to drive but a simple mistake could be costly and having a seasoned instructor in the car with you would be beneficial.

No no oil starved out of it. Something hit the side of the block and punched a hole out of it. Then all that oil got dumped on the cat and it went up in flames.

@fronkies1LECamaro are you sure? I'd put money on that sustained high grip right-hand corner making all of the oil inside the pan slosh to the left and away from the oil pick-up, so the oil pump picked up air and oil pressure dropped to near 0. Classic oil starve. The low oil pressure damaged a rod bearing, and then that rod broke and went through the side of the block. It's exactly why the corvette has a dry sump. Tough luck.

@@weedshoes5089 I have not looked at the PDR data yet. But I don't think it'll tell me "when" it hit 0 PSI other than the fact that it DID hit 0 PSI. Camaro takes 10 qts of oil and I don't think I was down on oil...but after something like this you second guess pretty much everything.

@@fronkies1LECamaro if it can tell you how much steering angle there was when pressure dropped, you'll have your answer. It's very common for high-grip cars to see pressure drops in corners as the oil sloshes around. Even with the oil overfilles and none leaking out. Pan baffles, dual pickup pumps, dry sumps, and accusump/oil accumulators all exist to mitigate exactly that.

@@weedshoes5089 All very true. I'll have to look at my GoPro video and see if I can see the gauge. I'm still meaning to get that up here. Yes the car comes from the factory with a pan baffle to prevent that and it takes 10 qts to try to reduce that problem as much as possible. Accusumps are great things, we have one on the race car but it's possible that all my stuff like this needs one.

​@@fronkies1LECamarotypically I hire a mechanic to extract the motor at my location. Once it's out, the rebuild is a breeze. Make sure the oil pan is properly baffled.

@@Globbs it's not. Typically yes it would be but I had modded the car.

@@wannabecarguy I have a lift at the house so pulling the motor is pretty straight forward. Just need to pull it out and then get a new one to drop in there.
