Thank you for this video. I’ve been typed by John Kitchener and have 40% Romantic essence (but wasn’t sure how to incorporate it). What about warm weather Romantic outfits (Summer/Spring)? I think John was referring to the fabric itself saying ‘I long to be touched’ because of its soft tactile appearance. He is not suggesting the person wearing it ‘longs to be touched’. Also, I’m shocked you think gypsy and exotic are considered offensive? Must be an American thing? Being called exotic is a compliment here. It means you seem interesting, worldly and intriguing. We eat food from all over the world so WHY can’t wear clothing from all over the world? 😉😊👍👍🇦🇺 Australia

Can your kitchner essence be the same as your kibbe Body type? (For example, classic face and body shape) or is it usually different?
@annade209418 сағат бұрын
If I have a pretty basic white, cotton, button up, pointy collared blouse, would that be considered pretty Yang? And if I had it in a soft pastel color, would that would make it more yin? In the end would it be considered blended? (Or equal yin/yang)

Yeah, that’s it, I’m giving up on shopping. If I’m not supposed to settle for whatever garbage the fashion industry is selling and I don’t have the money to pay for a top that costs more than a plane ticket then shopping isn’t for me. I’m going to invest invest in a fucking sewing machine and make my dream style come true.

I would be interested to see a video on the differences between inverted essence/kibbe combinations. For example, what a Kibbe Natural with Classic essence would wear vs a Kibbe Classic with Natural essence.

We definitely need more females creating style systems. Systems that are more inclusive and less from the viewpoint of the male gaze. I would be grateful for some more input regarding different life stages and ages. Both of you have already really helped me - a 60 year old. At my age, I also have the advantage of being able to look at clothes that I wore in the past - the mistakes, which usually involved me following fashion (the 80s wasn’t a great time for ethereals 😬) and the wins (so that’s why those long, flowing dresses looked so good!) I decided 2 years ago to go grey/white, which also made me reflect on my current style. Turns out that soft summer, soft dramatic, ethereal, looks quite good with long white curls. I’ve ordered Ellie-Jean’s book and can’t wait to read it. ❤❤

Aw I keep hoping to see me! Maybe if you do another video one day you can include: Kibbe Dramatic, thick long brown curly hair seems to contradict the dramatic styling i see, and I lean retro 70s, romantic with long dresses, casual/street/ I wear jeans/tees the most. I am a 50 yr old art teacher so like to feel colorful and unique, but not too out there because I'm teaching. Also, layering is hard here in the tropics! Anyway subscribing!!

I’m convinced that trying (and actually wearing for a period of time) many different styles of clothing is the only way to know for sure what type you are. When I posted photos of myself to online groups, people overwhelmingly guessed I was either dramatic classic or soft dramatic. I tried both of those for a while but neither felt right to me. It wasn’t until I was getting married and tried on nearly 100 wedding gowns of various styles that I discovered I’m a soft natural.

I resonate with the idea of a style spectrum! I was already thinking of three archetypes/categories I noticed in my preferences, but I didn't think of it like a spectrum. Thanks for sharing this with Roslyn and with all of us!

I loved this conversation so much ❤️ Roslyn’s explanations of McJimsey on her channel were so helpful when I couldn’t find my kibbe type!!! I know for sure that I’m a soft something in kibbe, and that alone helped more than I can say, but then I got completely stuck. Roslyn played a big part in helping me get unstuck and keep learning without knowing my kibbe type You both look so stunning btw! The bright spring colours are bringing you alive and I’m so glad you’ve been emphasising your romantic essence more despite some of the comments you got when you first mentioned it. And Roslyn’s cardi combined with the black looks so perfect on her, not to mention the dress!!! So many people wear black that to me it becomes a sort of nothing colour until I see it on someone like her

I looove your looks in this one (the intro and main vid)! Very interesting interview, I have struggled finding my ID as someone who's both petite and plus sized. Seeing Rosalyn helps me understand I am NOT Romantic, we are probably the same size but she is so much more round and lush than me. The way her cardigan is buttoned really shows her figure 8/double curve.

This was such a great episode, so natural, like old friends chatting. 😊 That black dress looks so good. I also went very far down the soft gamine path before realizing it just wasn’t vibing. I’m so happy I stopped myself before chopping off my mane. I’d probably still be crying about it. But she brings up a really great point about the perils of finding clothes that fit with a romantic body type. It’s hard for any body type, but “round” and 3D shapes are not often accommodated in modern clothing. Even when I was very thin, I felt like I looked 10+ pounds heavier in most off-the-rack clothes, even ones that were supposed to be slimming. I’m currently in the middle of another wardrobe audit, and I finally realized a few things I’d been holding on to were never going to look great, even if I lost weight. They had no seams or darts, and were always going to lay strangely across my torso because of their design. I feel like I can finally let them go.

I was considering sewing and Gaby mentioning it here has it a top priority. Our library here offered some basic sewing machine skills to get me started and then I can also use their fancy machines for a few hours at a time. I'm thinking of getting a machine for home and using theirs for practicing harder things. In the long run it will probably save us a ton of money.

I cried with emotion during the first 5 minutes of the talk. I also feel that Kibbe has helped me slowly overcome my body dysmorphia. As a mother of a 5 year old girl, with a romantic body, very short (4ft 10in) and plus size, it is extremely difficult to find clothes that fit well and fit into my life. Living in a rural environment, where it is extremely cold during the winter and the variety of comfortable coats that can be used to work in the field, take care of your daughter and then work in a store in a town... by the end of the day my feet wearing little shoes and dresses... I can't. I'm content to be comfortable and do my best with my style when it's date night with my husband lol 😂❤❤

Gabrielle, you hit the nail on the head at 36:55 when you talked about the infrastructure of garments of the past versus today. Romantics need that built in structure in clothing to keep them from collapsing on our bodies-seam binding, bias cutting, etc. It doesn't have to be actual boning or anything stiff, just more actual pieces used to construct the garment or extra seaming like you mentioned earlier. Great video.

I haven't landed on any specific stores yet. I found Sezane had some great options during the summer, but now their collection for autumn has very few BS colors. I'm also doing Nuuly right now just becuase I'm testing out how I like these new colors to show up and work with my style toolbox. So the process has been slow and a bit hit or miss

12:25 When Roslyn said she looks good in black... yes! Nobody can rock the black like Dark Winter ❄️ and Dark Autumn 🍂 🖤 (hence the name Dark) Bright Winter and Bright Spring also get black in their palette but look best in their Bright chroma colors 🌞 Gaby you are looking so harmonious in your Bright colors! I think any Dramatic Essence comes from the color palette in Roslyn's case and that self confidence to be a 90s supermodel! 😊 She is so delightful and feminine 😊 A definite Romantic ❤ There is always a tinge of intimidation with Dramatic and I don't feel any of that with her. Black and Romantic come off as more alluring and sexy. 😉😘
