2012 GMC Acadia here. Did this and it worked. How long it'll last? Who knows but at least for now i dont have to pounce on the display to see what it is displaying. I'll never buy a GMC anything ever again! Worst vehicle I've ever owned. Simple maintenance is a nightmare.

Thanks much for the info. I have the same issue with my 2013 Chevy Silverado and came here looking for advice, which it looks like I've found. I'll tackle this in a couple days when I have the time. UPDATE: worked for me too. Those little screws on the board were a pia though. I tried going to harbor freight and home depot so see if I could find the right tool/socket, but was unable to locate, so I ended up using needle nose pliers. I didn't put the screws back in, as I'm planning to swap them out with some Phillips screws for electronics.

Me too, I just did my best with a needle nose pliers. They were snug enough I hope. What a pain... but then it's no surprise with GMC.

I’m confused. There’s a gap in the video between removing the C panel and repositioning the hose itself. I pulled my 14’ raptor panel and couldn’t find the hose. Also, if I did wondering how you locate the end in order to fish it thru. I have a grabber tool for automotive.

I have a 2014 Platinum with a sunroof and could not find the drain tubes under the truck or even after pulling both side trim panels in the cab. As another commenter mentioned, perhaps Ford fixed this in the later models.

My 2011 supercrew 4x4 without a sunroof has the cab corner rust issue. When I bought it used a year and a half ago, I went underneath it and found the holes in the rocker panels with the black tape. Some was already missing, most of what was left was very loosely attached. I peeled all of it off, cleaned off where it was, sprayed a bunch of fluid film in each hole, and re taped all of them with black gorilla tape duct tape. That stuff is tops for staying stuck. My cab corners are a lost cause, but gorilla tape comes in the perfect shade of white to match the paint. Some carefully applied white gorilla tape makes the rust invisible from a few feet away, and isn't really noticeable when looking at the truck. I looked into repairing it with patch panels, but it requires the bed to come off the truck to access the area for cutting and welding. It's 10 years old, and otherwise looks and runs great, it lives outside 24/7, so I plan on driving it just the way it is.

@rocenautosport
@rocenautosport 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Ben, It wasn't too hard to get the panels to pop off. Take a small flash light and you might be able to see where the panel clips into the cab..then you can pry in the proper location instead of half way in between, and risking cracking or damaging the trim panel.

You saved me some heartache. Seen another video on the flaw of the manufactures tape falling off the holes so I got all the stuff I needed and was about to do the job of patching all of the holes when right before I started i just happened to come across this video and if I hadn’t known about these drain hoses, it’d been all for nothing. Thanks a million.

Is there only 1 drain tube? I found it on the passenger side but not driver?
@rocenautosport
@rocenautosport 4 жыл бұрын
Hi...there should be 4 drain tubes if i'm not mistaken, one in each corner of the cab. When you pour water down each corner of the sunroof, you should see where the water exits the cab, unless a drain tube is plugged with debris from a trees, dirt, etc. hope this helps,...sorry I just saw your comment...wish i had commented earlier for you.

You should go around and pull off all the old tape over those holes in the rocker panels and retape them shut. There are 10 on each side. Horrible design, if you don't your rocker panels will rust out.

Many say their third brake light was not sealed properly and rain got in through the light and ran down into the cab corners. I put a silicone seal around my third brake light.

My 09 f150 is bubbling up on the cab corners and inside the rear doors and it's super sad cause its a beautiful truck still besides that. I might look into seeing how much it would cost to do a proper repair on it but to be honest I'm a bit scared😕, I'm sure it will be alot😨. The new aluminum f150 look pretty appealing now.

Those rockers are rotting away quick! Look at all that rust on the lip. Not even related to the sunroof drain, it's the road salt that makes these trucks rust.

The sunroof drain certainly does keep the corner full of moisture. Salt just activates it. Sad that a 50,000 dollar truck rusts away in 5 years though. I've seen some 09-14's with holes in their corners already where I live. Then it migrates to the rocker and the truck's pretty much junk.
@gramps5157
@gramps5157 5 жыл бұрын
Make sure you retape shut the 20 holes that are in your rocker panels, 10 on each side. They come taped shut from the factory but the tape comes loose after a few years. Dirt and salt get in those holes and the weep holes that drain the water out that gets in those holes they become clogged so the water sits in your rocker panels.
@bennelly4308

also does not help that dog shit ford puts a big hunk of foam in these corners so over time, the moisture just sits there like a big sponge.

Good video -- which I found because our 2011 F150 supercrew (oxford white) has developed rust on cab corners on both sides, but not through and through, yet but bubbling up.. The truck does NOT have a sun/moon roof -- roof is solid. No idea if there are still drains tubes running down to the corners, or if so, from where they would be draining. Any thoughts on this?

If you don't have a sun roof I do not think you have these hoses in there. Rusted cab corners maybe be from water entering through the third brake light and it runs down into the cab corners. Seal your third brake light.
