The New Jersey Devils snipers in the 1990's were John MacLean and Stephane Richer who only scored 20 goals a piece during the 1995/96 Regular Season. I remember MacLean scored 40+ goals in 3 consecutive seasons and Richer notched the 50 goal plateau twice for Montreal. Richer did not like the fact that New Jersey let Bruce Driver and Claude Lemieux go to other teams.

I was at all 3 parades, still will never forgive ownership and the NHL for ruining the first parade for us Devil fans. We spent more time protesting them trying to move the team to Nashville than celebrating the Stanley Cup championship. I will forever miss defensive hockey and white jerseys as home jerseys; not away ones.

Loved the Crash Line. Actually ended up getting both a Mike Peluso and a Randy McKay jersey. Those 2 and Holik were incredible on both ends of the ice. Devils were a true 4 line team in the playoffs

Giguere was a very good, but not an all-time great goalie. His performance in that playoffs, however, was all-time great. Right from Game 1 of the opening round when he stifled a loaded Red Wings team in triple overtime, there was something different about the way he was playing, and it fed into his team. He made jaw dropping saves throughout those playoffs. That Ducks team had no business being in those series on paper, but Giguere gave them everything they needed to win.

This goal brings back bad memories as an 11-year-old Sens fan. I remember being crushed when Friesen scored this, though that Devils team was excellent and deservedly won the Stanley Cup in the round after this. It didn't end the way I wanted, but that run a lot of fun to watch. That Senators team was maybe among the best that they've ever had (the other candidates would be the 05-06, the 06-07, and the 16-17 teams). They were Presidents Trophy winners with a loaded roster of great offensive and defensive players in their prime: Alfredsson, Chara, Redden, Hossa, even the depth players like Havlat, Fisher, Bonk, etc. Both times they reached the Conference Final and didn't advance, the Senators were SO close to advancing. This late goal and the 2OT winner in 16-17 sting, but when you're a kid these games can seem like everything. Moments like this turn into joy when things do eventually go your way. If the Sens ever won a Stanley Cup, it would feel all the better knowing that they went through this first.

Watching this when it happened was truly satisfying. I was a lone Devils fan living in Texas, just after the Stars came to Dallas, and there were hockey fans in the city and most seemed to be Detroit fans before the Stars really established themselves. When sports bars were playing the Stanley Cup, most fans were in Detroit gear. When I saw Stevens destroy Kozlov early in the series, I swear you could see it in the Redwings' faces... Their confidence was stolen. Fear and doubt crept in... Then my underdog Devils sweep! One of the best sports watching experiences of my life.

This game legitimately was the best goaltending duel ever. Brodeur probably made about five of the 10 best saves of his entire career in this game alone. Literally a highlight reel on skates. It’s still a shame that the Devils didn’t win though. Granted, they did win in Dallas in epic fashion, but it would have been so much fun to see them win in OT on home ice. The arena probably would have collapsed on itself.

33:50 Rare mistake by Michael Whalen. He should have said, 'No team in the final has come back from 3-0, besides the 42 Leafs.' The 3-0 comeback was accomplished in 1975, with the Pens and Isles but it was in the Quarter finals and the Islanders won! Sorry Mike. Maybe they cut off the key word and made you look wrong but normally, you were dead on, a real asset to TSN, for many years! Cheers P.S. The Islanders almost pulled it off, in back to back series' They lost the first 3 in the next series and took it to 7 again!! This time they lost in 7. Talk about foreshadowing a future dynasty, or a team that has a bad memory! LoL

11:20 Claude's winning goal is nearly a carbon copy of his goal in Game 4 of the 86 finals against Calgary. The only difference? This puck he received from a Vernon rebound, where the 86 one, was on a pass. Both goals game winners Both goals in the Finals Both goals scored on Vernon, (who beat Montreal in the 89 finals) The one in 86 put Montreal up 3 to 1 in the Finals, heading to Calgary, where Lemieux won his first cup in his rookie Season. In 86 he had 10, 4 of them game winners. At least 1 was a series winner against Hartford, in game 7 OT. Of the 2nd round series. The only reason, he did not win the Conn Smythe? Patrick Roy did. Imho, sending Lemieux to the Devils, was the worst trade, (I know of) in Montreal's History. Cheers from Montreal Quebec Canada. P.S. In a seperate trade, we gave them Richer but got Kirk Muller, who helped us win the 93 Cup. We also included Tom Chorske in this, or another deal. Finally, Brodeur was drafted 22 overall, I beleive. So every team passed on him but Montreal picked 16th in that draft and Chose "HOFer" lol. Turner Stephenson. Plus Coach Jacques Lemaire but I'll leave his story for someone else to tell :)

What was the name of this song? I remember hearing this when I would go to NYR/NJ games at the Meadowlands. Pretty sure the organist would play this right before the music would start as the teams came out for their pregame warmup.
