One of these has been flying patterns WSW/ ENE over Cornwall from St Mawgan Newquay for 2 days (2-3.1.25) with a large trailing sounder. Local Falmouth Packet website says it's on a geological survey focused on lithium and geothermal energy discovery. I noticed it as it was very low and flight radar confirmed some passes as low as 200ft baro,and pretty slow,115 typical, presumably making use of clear still cold air conditions for stability etc. Never saw one before-;was alerted by sound then saw it sideways from highish ground effectively sideways at apparent equal height over the valley alongside. Remarkable.

@ApexAviation9782 Thanks- the question has been further solved in the Falmouth Packet online,which says it is a geological/ geoohysical survey with particular reference to identitying lithium and geothermal energy sources, Cornwall having proven promise in both fields. The technique involves gravity densometers. (Let's hope the article is more accurate than its reference to it being a " big plane". )Today's pattern was tighter and in sweeps limited to land apart from turns over the sea to the WSW. It made a direct pass over me this pm when in beechwoods by the Fal and so low I didn't get time for a usable clip. My first radar search arose yesterday 2.Jan when it passed me only just above my then location on highish ground about 600 m away horizontally such that it seemed almost the same height. You learn something every day!

I remember a discussion amongst airmen, in the Bahamas. Some well known aviators were on a very nice private Cay in the Bahamas, around 2001. Which airplane would be the DC-3 of the 21st Century? Some of thought the Cennna Caravan., more the 727, the 737 was very well spoken for. I nominated the DC3 as the DC-3 of the 21st century. The BT-67 is beautiful.

As an old C-130 crew chief, that main gear isn’t too happy. After backing, the airplane needs to go forward 1 tire rotation to realign the struts. Eh, since it’s going to the boneyard, I guess that just doesn’t matter. Still sounded like music to these old ears.

@@ApexAviation9782 I guess I'm having a hard time understanding why it would be scrapped, when it could be converted to be a firefighting tanker? And why would it be scrapped in England?
@ApexAviation9782
@ApexAviation9782 3 ай бұрын
@arthouston7361 it's a plane made to spec for the Coast Gaurd so converting it to fight fires would cost alot. And this is the H variant, older, less fuel efficient, and just not as advanced as the new C-130J variant, that's used by all types of military in the US and abroad. The US has C130Js made for Firefighting. And the motive to retire this airframe was because the Coast Gaurd now has newer and more fuel efficient aircraft

@@ApexAviation9782 I have many flight hours on the 1712, although not as much as some of the other 17XX's. Been retired since 2015, so kinda outta of it, but some of the other 17XX's I know went to Africa or sold off to civilian cargo companies. And not sure why they would scrap it instead of sending it to the boneyard to be used for parts as many other countries and civilian companies in the US are still using H models. The configuration for our H model that is different is the large square observer windows behind the flight deck for crew members to use for searches ( don't think the J's have this) modified for it to hold the camera turret on the nose, the wiring panel on the right side to hook up the CASPER pallet to use the turret and the flare launch tubes on the door of the ramp. With the turret removed and the CASPER and SAR (it contains inflatable rafts, dewatering pumps, other stuff) pallets off loaded, or airframe is just a cargo plane. We go through loading a large foam (I'm actually not sure what was in the tank anymore) dispersing tank that can be used to fight oil spills in the ocean, which is fairly similar to what would be used for firefighting planes. Also, looking at www.canada.ca/en/air-force/services/aircraft/search-rescue.html assuming it is up to date, Canada still flies H models. edit: Another thing that is weird is that it has the camera turret on the nose and it's being flown to Canada to be..scrapped? Scrap is still worth $$$. You actually have real info that it is to be scrapped? Maybe Canada bought it to scrap and use for parts on their H models.....but the turret is still on it, no way is that getting scrapped.

What did you film this with? I was curious because looking at it in 4K on my big screen shows some weird video noise that looks like a flock of mosquitoes when you zoom in. I hope you didn't pay too much for that camera, or could it be KZbin compression artifact? I like looking at videos of airshows, it helps me in trying to understand the behaviour of UAP Dragons myself and many others are starting to notice in our skies all over the world. See Custodian File or Latchkey Hustle for more of what we're discovering with films like yours at airshows, disasters, and other major events. We've discovered that we're being watched very carefully when in the sky, by things we can't explain.

@NOSUBSCRIBERSWANTED Hey! So this was filmed on Samsungs S24 Ultra. Yes like you mentioned it does have issues with noise and focusing at darker environments, and the zooming at night isn't too great either. But in proper lighting conditions it's very good. No compression by KZbin as far as I can find, just happened that the F-18 went up pretty late so thr camera wasn't at it best, Thanks for watching, great Question 👍
