Doug => showing his ignorance and near lack of any football acumen at all => Beck and Warinner were fine…….it was Barrett’s lack of passing skill downfield (no accuracy, precision, touch, etc., etc)…… our OC’s called a great game and Joe Burrow would have won the game in the 3rd quarter alone…..please review the Clemson game/3rd quarter and see how wide open our receivers were…… ……this game was an easy win……but Oscar Meyer’s Qb-1 choice and his impotent offensive scheme were at fault…..as is and has been Doug’s complete blindness even in hindsight. Dug is just a complete buffoon!!!

I think this year for Indiana, looking back in a few years, could be the coming out party. Indiana has a chance to be a perennial top half of the big ten team and get to the playoffs every few years.

Mike Katic should definitely be in the regular rotation. Also, I need a football card of him! Might even buy his jersey, although I'm a Buckeye fan typically!

Dom Tiberi interviewed Coach Tress . He's close to Freeman and has a good relationship with Coach Day . He says he wants both coaches & teams to play their best so no one carries regrets going forward .

My vote for MVP of the 2024 Buckeyes would be Donovan Jackson . I think the topper is his unselfishness . Most of this team are positioning themselves for the NFL . They fully get what he's done for them and it's had to have had an impact .

Some things regarding Freeman: I remember the transition from Kelly to Freeman pretty well. A lot of people in ND world were thinking that Luke Fickell should be the guy while others were looking at other high profile guys and wishing for that. There was a sizable contingent (myself included) that wanted Freeman to get the job. One of the things that helped Freeman tremendously was the fact that Jack Swarbrick was 100% behind him as he saw Freeman was doing such a great job with recruiting and how popular he was with the players. I believe ND might've gone in a different direction if Swarbrick wasn't such a big fan of Freeman. Another thing, Freeman has CLEARLY developed as a HC. The Freeman that took over against Oklahoma State in that Fiesta Bowl is COMPLETELY different than the uber confident, calm and resilient coach that he is today. One of the big knocks on Freeman was that he couldn't win the big game and after the NIU game LOTS of people were saying the job is too big for him and that he's on a leash. Now look where we are, Freeman has remained cool, calm and collected with the injury situation where a lot of coaches would be freaking the crap out (moreso in private and having it reported but still) Freeman at this point is about 60% vibes and 40% X's and O's right now. I think it'll balance out but he'll always be a vibes guy IMO. Lastly, if Doug does his media stuff with the players wearing the cape and crown it'll be SOOOO much like those times when David Letterman had people associated with him doing their thing at Super Bowl Media Day.
@WhatWhat-lf3bdКүн бұрын
You can just tell that Doug lets his relationship with Freeman give him Gold colored glasses. It’s human nature, but it’s very obvious with his coverage. It starts with literally crying as a grown man covering the game when they beat Georgia. Everything is all Marcus. Marcus is so great. The loss to NI is actually a good thing. The backup LT is actually better. It’s fine, but he would absolutely rip a southern reporter for doing exactly what he’s doing.
@SPTOКүн бұрын
He does seem to let some of his history with Freeman color some of his commentary however, a lot of what he's saying has been said over the last week or so especially from ND media circles so it's not THAT outlandish. It's probably moreso the degree to which Doug gets excited. He can't win though as i've seen plenty on here say he and Landis are pro-OSU and can't be objective about them either.
@WhatWhat-lf3bdКүн бұрын
@ I don’t think there is any chance an objective viewer can say Doug is biased towards OSU. He has notoriously been one of the most critical on the beat his entire time covering the Buckeyes. I also don’t think Doug’s excitement has anything to do with his ND takes. He is excited about everything, all teams. It is a main reason I enjoy his work, his enthusiasm. The Freeman specific stuff is just over the top IMO. It’s not a ND thing, it’s a Freeman thing. Which actually makes more sense to me. He personally watched the guy grow up, did work with him while he played at OSU etc. It just clearly clouds his coverage of ND. Everything has a positive twist with ND unlike any other team he covers. There are a ton of examples but the best is literally crying when they beat Georgia. That wasn’t a “the north won, so I’m excited” cry. There’s no world where Penn State, or Oregon, hell or especially even Ohio State beats Georgia and Doug breaks down in tears on the post game show. The guy has a personal relationship/affinity for Marcus Freeman and it absolutely impacts his coverage of ND. I’m not sure there is even anything wrong with it, I don’t mind getting coverage from a fans point of view. Some of my favorite beat reporters are openly fans of the teams they cover. It’s more just acknowledging that is what’s going on instead of pretending it’s objective analysis.

Doug along the lines of your discussion. In 1993 ND and FSU both finished with one loss. Both won their bowl games (Cotton and Orange respectively). ND beat FSU head to head that season (no better "data point" than that right?). Guess who "won" the Natty?

I'm 63 and a lifelong Buckeye fan . I enjoyed the hell outta the Tressel & Meyer years vs Michigan . I also think it's kind of cyclical . We have great players who are great people . We have great coaches and staff and a top recruiting class .We are 5 days from playing for a National Championship . I'm good with that .

I'd like to see a program like Nebraska really commit to a Army Navy style true triple option. While it's true they would not be able to get top ties QBS OR WRS I think they'd have a bonanza of o linemen and running backs. I bet they'd scare the crap out of tge upper echelons of the B10 if they did this.

I think there is a decent chance OSU misses the playoffs next year. They could lose 3... Texas, PSU and one other (at Illinois, at Wash, at Wisc, at Mich). A sophomore QB with no experience can be dicey.

What are you talking about. Three of our starting front four or injured and out for the season on the d line and three of the offensive line starters are missing. An Notre Dame still made the championship game. If Notre Dame had all there starters. They wouldn't be underdogs in this game ,get it right. Sometimes I think Michigan is from the south. What a joke. Go Irish 🍀.
@seeknayog72622 күн бұрын
@@michaelmorris6406 They would still be underdogs but much closer. But....if you are going to play that card, then give OSU the1st round O line tackle they lost and the best center in the country.
@michaelmorris64062 күн бұрын
@seeknayog7262 I'm not playing a card I'm telling the truth. 9 starters they lost nine starters. For the year. OSU lost three starters. Big difference bro. All American Benjamin Morrison, best corner in college. Be a number 1 round draft pick. Plus three of our rotational starting edge rushers. Ryan Mills number one tackle first rounder. Are other tackles been playing at least at 75% for the playoffs. Questionable for this game. Three offensive lineman including our center. All starters. Corner Jade Mickey got hurt. Join the portal. We won't even get him back. A number one tight end Jim Flanagan gone for the year. It is what it is. Not standing on nothing I'm just stating facts. Go Irish 🍀

I enjoy the show Doug, and you guys are some of the few that have hit the point I think needs reiterated to people who think sec is still on top. Their coaches playoff/natty record in 2022 19-10 with 10 national championships Their coaches playoff/natty record in 2022 8-9 with 2 national championships It's just a fact that they have lost their elite coaches. Kirby props the whole tent up and they still think that's enough to give the conference credibility as a whole. I do think they have a good conference don't get me wrong but it's not what it was even 2 years ago.

I really want to like this show but that conversation at the top had to be the dumbest I’ve ever heard in my life. Ohio States graduating class has 8 losses. That’s an average of 2 per year. They lost twice this year. I think they will win the championship this year because they are the most talented--but give me a friggin break. Where do they rank all time 😂? At best underachieving at worst it’s a regular talented class. Again they’ve lost twice this year and averaged 2 losses every season. What are we doing
