The baptism of the Holy Spirit is a one time event in our christian walk. We either have the Holy Spirit or we don't. The Holy Spirit is a person. In other words we are either born again or we are not. Of course after we are born again we need to learn to walk by the Spirit and not the flesh. This is the process of sanctification which takes us from glory to glory. I believe it can be a dangerous thing if people think they need to be baptized by the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues once they have already been born again. This can open people up to receiving something that is not of God. There are many people who speak in tongues and it is not from God. "New Age" people can speak in tongues too. What happened?? We have been blessed with the teachings from Pastor Frechette for over a year now. Very confused with the direction this church has all the sudden taken, how is this edifying? What a bizarre sermon. It seems Scripture has been taken extremely out of context to be self edifying. This psych exam just seems like people are lacking discernment, not "gifts". There IS no 'middle ground.' Scripture IS black & white if you study it dispensationally. Yes IS Yes and No IS No! (Matthew 5:37) 2 Tim 4:2-4: For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Interesting in that the whole sermon, obedience was not a key point. A worshipper who gossips and slanders, even within the leadership, is not an environment of worship. A bully who is allowed to lie and cause division is not an environment of worship. Corporate worship where individuals have caused hurt and are hateful in their private lives toward others is nothing more than noise in the ears of God. Especially when they are not made accountable for their actions. Obedience is the foundation of true worship. True worship is to love your neighbor. Worship is not about music but about actions. Show the world God's love by how you treat your neighbor. To forgive is worship. To overlook an offense is worship. To love your enemy is worship. I have been disobedient. Forgiveness is not for the faint of heart as it involves laying down of one's pride and hurt feelings. Laying down the right for retribution. It is a work in progress. God does look at the heart of man and searches for all that hinders true worship. It is disobedience when we ignore his commandments and continue on with the illusion that we are a believer. That believer is deceived. A believer who obeys God's commandments is true worship. Obedience is key.
