That was very helpful to me. Mine just fell off one day after I bought my house. Thanks for the warning about which one to buy. I didn’t pay attention, now I will make sure to buy the right one and that they are not all the same.

Place the retaining washer in the throat of a pair of electrian's pliers to hold it. Place the washer over the end of the rod and strike the pliers with a hammer to drive the washer on evenly until the pliers won't go any further. Use a hammer and flat tip screwdriver to drive the washer flush with the handle base. I used a pair of side cutters to cut off the old washer if you have a new one. The entire process took less than 10 minutes.

I watched this video just to figure out how to get that fastener back on and you didn’t show it 😅 but thank you for asking folks to comment with advice! I’ll try the socket and hammer technique, and report back later today!

You also need to mention that the sleeves for the two fastener screws are 1-1/2" apart. My old garage door, the sleeves were 1-13/16 apart. I couldn't find one that fit my holes drilled 1-13/16" apart so I needed to redrill holes 1-1/2" apart and fill the old holes.
@basicamericanliving6017 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for pointing this out, someone else may have the same issue. How did you fill the old holes?

Nice cook man! Very laid-back video style too, I enjoyed it. Yours is the first video I've seen of this recipe being done on a Weber Kettle. One question; did the smoke stain your pot at all? We have one just like it.

Hi Ron, fortunately it did not stain the pot. Thanks for the complement! 👍🏼

like the idea of a flatter ball. More surface area for the smoke to adhere to and a quicker cook to temp.
@basicamericanliving6017 Жыл бұрын
Another idea is to make a few separate flat balls like burgers for a faster more even cook and more smoke flavor. 🍔

grab a socket that fits the back of the lock and hammer that shit in!!!!!!
@basicamericanliving60172 жыл бұрын
I had tried using a socket but it wasn’t working, thought I might damage the door. But maybe that’s the way to do it. Another thought was to use a couple channel locks or vice grips on each side and press it on. Thanks for the tip!
