Depends on the church but often all giving just goes into the pot. Often they don’t separate it out. It’s worse in the Catholic Church in that the diocese just pretty much clears the bank account once a year and just leaves float. So it becomes a case of spend or give away as much funds as possible before the diocese take it. Also most churches don’t have any money. Less people attended and fewer people giving 10% of their income.

Love these videos of local walks and we have enjoyed some new walks by watching your videos. However I must correct you on this one Jan. The initial waterway is not a river, it is the Trent and Mersey canal. This was constructed for wide beam boats from the Mersey to Middlewich hence the wide Big Lock at Middlewich next to the pub of the same name. The canal from this point was used to ship mainly salt to the Mersey for export plus wide beam boats could get to Manchester and Wigan. The narrow Croxton aqueduct that you walked across was also wide at one time but had to be replaced with a narrow steel structure. This aqueduct crosses the River Dane. Best regards,

Yes at that point the River Dane is alongside the canal and it's difficult to determine one from the other. The canal is only named in the centre of Middlewich where it runs alongside the River Croco, and it's name is not shown again for many miles. Very good video on a walk that we have enjoyed a few times, starting from the Big Lock, along the towpath, around Croxton and back again. Great videos Jan, and thanks for keeping us all informed on local developments. Regards

Just found this site, and will have to go back and check previous episodes. Crewe is a dive, and absolute sh t hole. I spent many, many a happy time in Crewe and its fantastic outdoor market in the sixties and early seventies, and the town centre was bustling, and the cinema we used to go to. The council recked Crewe and put in all those roads, on the outskirts, and what is more, what the hell happened to Crewe park? Glass houses gone, aviaries gone, the train gone, everything that was so bright and interesting taken away and just barren.

I've lived in Crewe. The queues of traffic in all directions make it hard to get in and out of the centre so it's an interesting decision to put a massive multi-story in the middle of town. I assume it's to generate income for the council. I hope the regeneration has a positive effect it needs it particularly since the retail park killed the town centre. Even Poundland moved out.

Bruce didnt get to learn too much from the Internal Arts methods... and one Key thing that they teach you, is in the special Development of the Mind... not just the bodily differences (like Super Strong Tendons, due to Slow Motion "Tai Chi like" form work). 3 Years before I got into the arts... I was getting into New-Age knowledge. This included buying a book on Breathing (indian / yogic breathing exercises). As well as doing daily 1 hour long, Silent Mediation sessions... and certain other Experiments. I ended up increasing my Lung Capacity, maybe 10 fold. And after maybe 3 months of Silent Meditation sessions... I developed what I call the "Quiet Mind" state. Most of us, have internal voices in our minds... that are constantly distracting us, from whatever we are trying to do. Its like a pack of wild puppies, pulling you in every direction. You cant focus FULLY on anything, when this is Happening. However, Silent Meditation, is the method to TAME the Subconscious Mind. The Sub Conscious is like a Child that is misbehaving. In order to deal with a misbehaving child, you tend to place them in "Time Out", sitting in the corner, facing the wall. This is pure Torture to the Child... and they will quickly start to try to manipulate their way out of this punishment. And or... will try to get out of the chair, before they are allowed... If the kid gets out of the chair... you need to rush and place them right back onto it, and potentially add more Time to the punishment (letting them know that, too). They may try several times... throw tantrums, cry, act out Physically.. etc. However... if you keep punishing their Bad Behaviors this same exact way... EVENTUALLY they will realize, that nothing they do, will ever prevent / stop the punishment. Eventually, their minds / spirit will "Break", and they will realize that they need to Behave. Its ONLY at this point, they will stop disobeying, and stop testing your Boundary's. The Subconscious mind is Similar. The process is simple. You simply close your eyes, lay in bed, and breath long slow deep breaths, in and out. As you breath, you silently count (in your mind), each SECOND that it takes to Inhale, and Exhale. In fact, I also often visualized that I was drawing the numbers in the sand, with my finger. Your mind should be focused on merely feeling the air going in and out of your body... as well as the Counting process. Because of this non-stop TASK of counting... your mind, and subconscious mind... are unable to "Escape". They are being kept too Busy, for anything else. Initially, the Subconscious will TRY to distract you... often in the form of "Itches", "Cramps", and a very Restless feeling. However... so long as you keep at it... eventually, the Subconscious will "Break" and start complying... That said... the process is slow and gradual... not instant. You initially go from feeling awful about 5 to 10 minutes, in a meditation session. But in about 2 weeks time, your body and mind get used to it.. and start to look forwards to the experience. Eventually... 1 hour passes by, as if it was a mere 5 minutes worth of time. Each progressing day, past the 2 week marker... and you should start to feel more and more Happy / Content. Little things that used to easily set you off... do not really effect you the same way, anymore. However, even then... you wont notice that much difference.. until the very end point, where your mind suddenly develops the Quiet Mind state, out of nowhere. When you develop it... Your mind becomes either 100% silent, or very close to it. You can choose to think with internal vocalizations... however, the rest of the time, you are sort of "Thoughtless"... and merely "Observing / Listening". Only this time... you are experiencing the PRESENT (the GIFT) in a much DEEPER way... because there is no internal Distractions, nor even any Pre-Judgements. As such, you not only have much greater experiences in life... and much more Inner Peace... but also... you can now learn new things... in a fraction of the time (and retain this new knowledge longer / better, too). How does this Apply to Combat ? If you were fighting against a person... and you were so over-emotionally charged (Furious)... you will likely be thinking about what transpired to make you angry... as well as the many thoughts and feelings... as you look at, and focus too much on.. their facial expressions. Due to this internal distraction... you might easily be exploited, and defeated. This is why, the top level fighters know... to clear their minds of any thoughts and emotions (of course, if you have never Disciplined your mind, thats easier said than done). But thats only a small part of it (and fairly common sense). The more interesting part... is in this other example: Imagine if a fighter Feints high, and then kicks Low. Many martial artists, are easily fooled.. and exploited, by this simple tactic. Why? Because their minds cant focus on more than one area / thing... at a single moment in time. If they focus on the High Gate.. they are not aware of the Low Gate at all... Until they SHIFT their focus to it. That shift process, has a Delay to it.. and so, by the time they have tried to shift focus, they have already been Hit (likely hit, at least 2 to 3 times)... However... Once you have developed your mind, using special Internal Training methods... Your mind no longer needs to shift focus. Its instantly, and ALWAYS, aware of like 1000 different data streams, all at the same exact moment in time. For example... I will know instantly: If my Shoulders are Raised, if my elbow is a mere CM out of position, what percentage of my mass.. is over my rear vs lead legs, what degree my foot is angled, if my shoulders are rotated by a certain degree, what rotation degree my Hip is at, if my Spine / Posture is straight, where in sequence.. my breathing is at... as well as more External 3d Spatial Data... such as: Can I reach the OP from here, and with what techs? Can the OP reach me? .. as well as which targets are in danger of being struck. Its at this point, where you can no longer be easily fooled by such simple trickery, anymore. Ive noticed these changes, and proven these superior results... via countless sparring interactions, as well as a few real barefist exchanges. You see... what eventually happens from the correct internal training... is that... Not only does the Subconscious mind become Obedient... But also... the mind builds new Neural Clusters, allowing a far SUPERIOR communication link, between your Conscious and Subconscious mind.. And.. it gives you all new access to new "Powers". You get a far heightened level of Awareness / Consciousness. These changes, are actual physical changes in the brain. We know this, because a more recent group of Scientists did "Before and After" MRI brainscans, on participants that were instructed to do daily meditation sessions. After a few months of these sessions, they compared MRI scans... and those that performed the daily silent mediation sessions.... their brains had great in Density and Connections. As such, once you attain these new abilities... they are Permanent. While some of my development, happened from my Silent Mediation sessions... The more Combat related changes, such as heightened body and spatial 3D awareness.. were developed from slow motion form work... and other specific slow motion drills. More in Part 2..
@johndough8115Ай бұрын
Part 2: You see... Not all "Forms" are the same. Forms can have many purposes. The most logical, is that they maintain all of the arts Core methods, within them... helping to Preserve the artform, over many Decades / Centuries of its existence (even if written documentation, is destroyed)... However, thats just surface level, common sense. But there are special things in certain forms... that go far beyond mere pattern memorizations. For example... Tai Chi / Slow Motion forms... are specifically designed to Increase your Awareness levels... as well as develop your body in a very Different way. To do them properly... you have to relax your MUSLCES to the point where... if you go a hair more.. your body would fall to the floor, like Jello. Since you are barely using any muscle to hold your body and extended arms up + away from your body... this places a LOT more STRAIN on your Joints / Tenons, and other Tissues... as well as your entire Skeletal Structure. By doing these slow forms for one hour long periods... this puts so much strain on your tendons, that they eventually are forced to develop into "SUPER TENDONS". They will be more Elastic (like springs).. but also, like 50x Stronger. This will allow you to do some amazing physical / martial arts Feats.. that go FAR beyond mere Muscular based Strength. Of course, you can also combine your new Internal Strength abilities... with External based strength. If you have ever seen a Tai Chi dude, use an Explosive Push... to send a guy sailing though the air... and landing like 12 to 15 feet away... then you should know, that the reason they can do that... is because of these special Internal developments. Its not simply a case of merely having strong muscles. Its not a typical Push, either. Bruce Lee himself, started to recognize this Internal Power method (likely after eating a few of Wong Jack Man's internal strikes). Lee basically copied Tai Chi's push demo's... but rather than using a Palm, he used his vertical fist. However, the energy, and basic internal mechanics, is the same. Obviously, even the External Based arts forms... are not meant to fully represent actual Combat. They are the Blueprint... that give you the basics of operational concepts. It would also be impossible to document every single combat interaction possibility... which is why there is usually only a few examples per form. The examples demonstrate "Principles" that can be applied to virtually any kind of situation. However, the rest of these arts developments, come in the form of Hand Drills / Combat Drills (two man, partner drills). And once you have mastered the hand drills.. you eventually move on to Sparring... where you are trying to master these methods at full speeds, and at heavy impact levels, under high stress situations. If you fail, you tend to go back to training the Drills, and trying to clean up any errors you may be making... based on your experiences in sparring, where you noticed various flaws / troubles. Then you try to spar again... and see if you can / have improved. This process is repeated as many times as needed, until you reach "Masterclass" level execution + potentials.
