I felt bad for AJ, however, the writers made AJ weak. AJ is a Quartermaine and he allowed Sonny to blackmail him in giving up Michael and then he let coward to Sonny by signing away his rights. If AJ got a lawyer beforehand these got out of hand. AJ was so scared of going to prison that he didn’t fight for Michael. AJ could have gotten a good lawyer and got those charges dismissed. He did come from a wealthy family after all.
