Way back in prehistoric times, when our roof-top antenna could only receive 5 channels, Marlin was always our favorite, on Sunday afternoons. (Sunday morn & aft TV, really sucked in those days) I even thought Mutual Of Omaha insured animals.

It way better when you were 5yrs old. Now you know they Mellon and others in a petting zoo in FLa or now foe sure 2024 Texas. Texas holds the most DNA for captive breads in the world. If it wasn't for MUTUAL of Omaha I may have scoffed at my dad to catch a trout in those caol steams. MOTHER I did.

Some of their presentation on "animal intelligence" is a bit misleading or relying on general conclusions or assuming that all species within a certain "tier" are going to be the same. And this is not the case... Take for example, tests regarding reflections... Many animals have been known to think that when they see themselves in a mirror, they think their reflection is another animal. KZbin has a short of this in which a bear comes up on a mirror in the woods and attacks the mirror thinking the bear he saw was another bear that startled him. Yet, some animals can recognize their own reflection, and among these animals is the Magpie, a species of bird... which under the tier list they use, shouldn't have been able to recognize its own reflection when a bear couldn't. There can also be cases of mimicry where one species of animal has learned to mimic the calls of other animals. Various species of parrots and parakeets have mastered this... as have ravens, although, ravens have not necessarily been as willing to demonstrate the ability as parrots and parakeets. While this may not be a sign of "higher" intelligence, there would have to be some level of cognition going on that is beyond basic instinct. And among birds, some of this could serve as a distraction to either intimidate predators or potential rivals. And at times this hasn't been limited to birds. Bengal Tigers in India have been known to mimic the call of Sambar Deer, an animal they regularly prey on... and biologists have also noted that the Sloth Bear has learned this... as their observations have noted that these bears become MORE alert at the sound of a Sambar Deer's call, regardless of whether or not a Sambar Deer has actually made the call. This has shown some measure of learning in two different carnivorans. One, the tiger, has found a way to lure prey to it while the other, the bear, knows the tiger's trick and will be hesitant in order to avoid being on the menu. They've also presented issues in thinking that these tiers apply across the board in every group... as though the tiers are the same as taxonomy, which is not the case. For example, whales and dolphins... I.E. cetaceans have been found to be very intelligent animals in their own right, and with many cases finding them to be on par with primates, if not surpassing many of them, in certain respects. They've proved quite trainable, and some scientists have even observed that dolphins raised in captivity have even taught WILD dolphins some of the same tricks the former captive dolphins learned from man. Which shows they can both learn and consciously teach. One would then thin, that based on the tier list they use that whales and dolphins would be primates based on that intelligence... They aren't. Whales and dolphins are actually closer to elephants and hippopotamus in terms of their taxonomic placement on the animal family tree. All of which shows that things are NOT linear between any or all animal species or groupings.

Just saw one 24ft away last night at the East Wenatchee Municipal Courthouse and I said sitting at a picnic table wow awesome and that spooked it back under the nearby trees it had come out from under. Then immediately after 2 cops with AR 15's showed up and I heard just awhile ago that they did shoot it after that 2am encounter I had. I was rooting for the cougar but we do have a plentiful amount of them in our region now and they don't belong in our towns.❤😢❤😊

A lot of the show's comparison between Cougars and Lions/Tigers has some major errors in it... 1. Tigers do enjoy water and are NOT averse to bathing and swimming. In some parts of India, they may even use water to their advantage in hunting given that a Tiger's paws are semi-webbed while the Sambar and Chital Deer cannot swim as fast. They thus use the water as a means to slow the deer's escape. In other parts of the Tiger's range the terrain is such where crossing rivers is going to be fairly frequent. Places like the Sundarbans, for example, is a big saltwater marsh/swamp that would require a fair amount of swimming to navigate. 2. Tigers have also been noted to enjoy water as a means to cool off. India can be very warm nearly all year long, and so would southeast Asia and Indonesia... and without sweat glands, the only place for a Tiger to stay cool WOULD be in water. The only part of the Tiger's range where it would have a climate similar to what the Cougar has in the American Rockey Mountains is in the Russian Far East, which is much further north from where most Tigers live. 3. And while there could be "hesitancy" on the part of Lions and Tigers around bodies of water that they are unfamiliar with... one should not confuse caution with not liking water. And across Africa and southern Asia, Lions and Tigers both have good reason to be careful in certain river areas. For in Africa the rivers often have Nile Crocodiles in in... some coastal rivers may have Saltwater Crocodiles in them. In India and Bangladesh, the Tiger shares the region with the Mugger and Saltwater Crocodiles... And all of these Crocodilians are not going to be averse to grabbing a Lion or Tiger if they can ambush it. Big Salties in the Sunderbans have been recorded killing and eating Tigers, often grabbing them while the Tiger is swimming between islands in the region. The only place where the Cougar would run into a crocodilian that would have more advantages in water would be in Florida... And there, thanks to Human activity, the American Alligator, while it can reach pretty big sizes, doesn't always get that big. A big Alligator would be more than a match for a Cougar in the waters in the Everglades, and it would be likely that Cougars there WOULD be hesitant at times because they don't want to mess with something that can hold its breath longer than they can and may weigh more than they do. The Cougars in the Rockey Mountains of the American West don't have to worry about crocodilians of any kind, as the American Alligator ranges from Texas to Florida and potentially no further north than North Carolina.
