This is one of the best DS driving videos out there. Great idea to sit in the back seat to get a wider perspective. Incredible that this platform came out in 1955.

Not a DS but an ID, DS has a hydraulic semi-automatic gear box without clutch pedal, however, ID has a manual gear box with clutch pedal, both are beautiful french cars, i'm french too...

Does this car have a standard clutch activated by foot pedal? Because you waited so long in front of the traffic lights, 1st gear selected. With a standard clutch this means you have to press the foot pedal all the time, which causes wear for the declutching bearing. Going to neutral while waiting protects the clutch, IMHO...

DS has automatic clutch. ID has regular manual transmission and clutch.

As far as I remember, the position chosen by Citroën is with the spoke between 7 and 8 of a clock-face.

You missed out the fourth gear, push it back in and twist it right. I have a 1959 exactly the same colour as this one. ❤

A perfect restoration, this 2CV is even more beautiful than when she left the factory. A pure gem. As you probably know, the gearbox has 4 forward gears. And I glimpsed a Citroën DS 23, even a Solex 3800 ! Good man...
