Great Video! In my experience in owning German Shepherds, my White German Shepherd has a "Goofier" personality then "my past" beloved black and tans. His whole family adores him! Each one has their own personality. I can't say enough about the greatness of this breed and how important knowing your dog's breeding history is. Thanks for posting!

Two years ago I adopted a white German shepherd/ Husky mix from a kill shelter when he was 6 months old. He looks like an arctic wolf. He has attributes of both breeds, super intelligent, friendly and loyal.

I was always told that female German shepherds were best if you have children and you need a good watch dog. They are naturally maternal and because of that instinct they are better watch dogs. Essentially they protect their human kids as they would their pups. Is this not true?

Yes! Sometimes it can be difficult when deciphering dog body language. It gets easier though when you take the environment and whole situation in context.

Nice story about Wolfs. I am 74 years old and have always had dogs. When I was 3 my father that was in the US Air Force and got transferred to Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage Alaska. While there he brought home a puppy that was half wolf and half husky, we called Wolf. The mother was a wolf and had been killed at the base and there were several pups. We had Wolf for two years and he got along well with us and our other dog. He was an outside dog and stayed in a closed in lento on our house trailer. I played with him all the time, as I dug in the dirt he would be right beside me. When my father got his next assignment to Sacramento California (very hot) we left Wolf with a lady that raced sled dogs. Wolf was big and she was going to put him in a 3 dog sled team with two large dogs she had. We went to see him right before we left and he was with other sled dogs that had dug holes in the ground to stay cool. He remembered us and we did our good byes. I cried then and will always remember him.

I owned a pure GERMAN, german shepherd in 1973, these dogs now, and I don't much care what anyone thinks ARE NOT German shepherds, they may have papers and "pedigrees" BUT that doesn't make a shepherd, compare for yourself, and see what a true shepherd should actually look and walk like

We have German shepherd called Jax he is amazing he is black and tan he is so handsome , I would have to disagree to say they not for first time dog owners Jax is my first dog he has been amazing to train. Fab guard dog but also brilliant family dog we have kids and grandkids he is so protective but so soft with the family , everyone should have a gsd in there lives , you have to give them plenty of exercise attention and loads of love they will be your best furry babies 🐕‍🦺💙💗🇬🇧

I miss my Czech boy Sacha, who was a wonderful companion and protector of my disabled wife. His favorite place was at her side. He was a good boy.

I gave my pure bred German shepherd whatever he desired. He went home to heaven last May almost 12 years old. Never knew a crate always off leash on our daily walks. Walked or ran at his own pace. he loved Walmart, the post office, even the pharmacy, Marshalls our little town is pet friendly. He was spoiled rotten. Never bit anyone, before he went to heaven a man selling steak gave him filet mignon.
