'Yak shit' is mainly used on panels as you said, it prevents dissimilar corrosion. PRC can be used on panels too but is mainly used as a sealant rather than for dissimilar corrosion prevention. PRC had that knack of getting on your hands no matter how careful you were and was a right nightmare to get off :-)

A barrel roll can be a 1g maneuver, but in combat it can be much higher g. For this demostration it looked like a 1g roll.

So much better than the tin triangle. Awesome plane and in my opinion the best looking jet ever built...closely followed by the English Electric Lightning, Hawker Hunter and Vickers Valiant.

I remember we came across a Victor in the woods at RAF Catterick (it was used for Fireman training). Now I'm going on GoogleEarth to see if it's still there 45 years later. Can't see it now. There was other stuff there including a Gloster Meteor. I guess when the RAFRegiment n Firemen moved out anything not completely fried was rescued, junked for parts, or made into beer cans..

The true accident was that it DIDN'T CRASH! LOL Just kidding, any aircraft can be rolled, if done properly 1g doesn't get exceeded. But unless you have a solid cell battery, it is a very stupid idea to do. Because if battery acid runs out YOU DO HAVE A PROBLEM! ;)

Me (a few years ago) a boy sitting at home watching a Farnborough display and this sort of demo on our grainy black and white 2 channel 19 inch screen was absolutely enthralled and excited. I still get goose pimples when I watch these old films of Victors and Vulcans going aerobatics, beautiful.

In the late 70s I watched a Vulcan whisper when traveing just above the runway. The afterburners on it then rotated verticality upwards, when the after burners turned off it seemed to slide backwards and slowly rotate until it was facing downwards (a WWI Immelmann turn!!) Then gently returned to whispering along the runway. 45 yrs later it still blows my mind! Not bad for a high level bomber.

@@brianwindsor6565 The Vulcan never had reheat, but a whole load of smoke would come put the back when the Olympus engines were going full tilt so probably that was probably that which you think it had reheat. The reheated Olympus engines that went into the Concorde and TSR2 was a very different engine and effectively a new design.

The correct name for that maneuver is an immalmann turn. After making a high-speed diving attack on an enemy, the attacker would then climb back up past the enemy aircraft, and just short of the stall, apply full rudder to yaw his aircraft around. This put his aircraft facing down at the enemy aircraft, making another high-speed diving pass possible.

Anyone know the registration of this aircraft and the date please? I worked on the K2's at Marham '78 to '82 and more recently on Teasin' Tina at Bruntingthorpe for many years. This looks like a K1 and a very good friend of mine was a crew-chief on K1's at Marham in the early '70's

I agree totally. Our fleet of V-bombers and Cold War jets (such as the lightening) where truly pushing the limits of technology at the time with their sheer speed and manoeuvrability. I’m sad that I didn’t catch them all back In The day at air shows and was truly saddened on the last flight of XH558. British engineering at its best.
