Hi, thanks for that. I'm looking to place a mooring at Miri, medium/long term, I am retired, my wife and I are applying for a residence visa, will spend much time in Sarawak. I have been to the Marina without the boat, they are very unhelpful, I went on to the office and the captain wouldn't even come down the stairs to meet us. Anyway our yacht seems too big and it looks too shallow. On googlemaps I can see a lot of boats tied up on the river Miri, would that be an option for a private yacht? Further north on another river I can see the Port Authority, doesn't seem to be much going on there but it's a bit further out than we would like to be. Yacht is currently in Cebu, I have registered it now in Langkawi, we will take it down to Kudat in January. It is 24 metres, 2.8 draught. Any ideas?

Local knowledge is key in finding your solution I think. When you get to Kudat you will find some long term live aboards who may have some suggestions, good luck🙂

What's the wind vane you’re using?
@sailingyachttruce3 күн бұрын
The wind vane is custom built by the guy that built the boat. Very basic and simple but it works 😁

Excellent, good luck, I'll follow you around :) Good for a circumnavigation me thinks, why not?
@sailingyachttruceАй бұрын
Certainly could but would need a refit and a new set of sails first. At the moment enjoying hanging around places and meeting people then getting back to NZ.

There were a few anchorages in the Video. The first one was to the south of Gili Asahan, south Lombok. A wonderful sheltered anchorage with a nice helpful and friendly village on the island.

Hello Ray. I’m sitting on the couch on a cold and very wet day here in Tasmania. I’m thoroughly enjoying your bit of warm and sunshine that you’re handing out to the rest of the world. I enjoy your low-key commentary very much. I’m not sure how important it is to you to grow efficient your channel for some people. It is if I can do anything to help you through promoting your channel on my next video just let me know. I’m more than happy to put some links in there and little snippet. I’m just one step ahead of you. Cheers Chris.

Hi Chris, Happy to bring some sunshine to you down in Tasmania, I have been there a few times on business but not yet on the boat, its on the bucket list. I have been doing a blog (www.truce.nz) for years, mainly for family and friends, I also get some good therapy from it. The youtube thing was also the same but I would like to get paid some beers if that's possible. So yes, very happy for you to give me a plug. You can email me at [email protected] cheers, Ray

Very interesting from someone who knows nothing about boats. Very useful you are able to do all the maintenance yourself. 😁

Hi Barry, yes I have been secretly monitoring your progress. Hoping to meet up for that beer you owe me, well just drink it yourself instead:) I have arrived Belitung after a horrid busy sail, ran through a fish trap at 2 in the morning doing 6 knots, slowed me down for a while.

So glad I found this. Looks like a sudden breakthrough for you on KZbin. Well done you deserve the result. Here’s why I enjoyed it. Slow and relaxed. Highly competent and highly authentic. Impressed with your self steering setup. Great videography. Nice boat with plenty of character. I’m tired of the gen X stuff. Thanks so much, I know what goes into these productions. Cheers Chris.

Checking out of Gove was easy and avoided Darwin. You can check into Saumlaki without an agent, for ease I used Bobby +62 812-4092-0220 and he whips you around the offices on his motorbike.

I like your nicely paced smooth pans at the beginning and the limited talking head. It's nice to see the surrounds. When you do your voice overs, are you able to silence the scratch audio as it interferes with the VO? Keep up the good work though.
