I only got 4 bolts with strange clips for my casters.

I’m dealing with the same thing. One guy said that the strange clips don’t actually go into the box, but that doesn’t sound right to me.

Hi. How is it holding up? I would be concerned about a full weld like that weakening the axle. Without some sort of pre-heat and post heat. I think Dexter only recommends tack welds on their kits for this reason.
@theartifactory363714 күн бұрын
I would love to tell you, but someone stole the camper a year ago. It held up great until then. You generally only have to worry about pre-heating and post-heating on cast iron or sometimes on high-carbon steel. In this case, the brackets supplied by Dexter were mild steel and the axle tube was likely DOM tubing, neither of which need pre-heat and post-heat.

Very nice, would be perfect without distracting music. You clearly demonstrate frustrations & success both which instills confidence in anyone willing to tackle a DIY project such as this. Few videos on this which is a common problem with Jeeps, that’s surprising. Good job 👍

Great build. I just got the same motor. I wired a switch into the wiring panel. When I turned it on it ran, but when I unplugged it and plugged it back in, it won’t run. Hope I don’t break it.

Hi nice remodel😊 I also have a 1997 Rockwood pop-up camper was just wondering if you’ve ever had to replace the four stage lift arms? The one on my front door side corner collapsed over the weekend and now I’m in search of a replacement. I’m also in the middle of doing a full remodel. Thanks for any advice or tips.

@@DebbieOrr-ol7bv I haven't had to replace the lift arms, but I do have a video where I redo the cable system. Maybe that would shed some light on your issue. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hHu2lYmfnt-aaNksi=pCtMtPMTB7F91SON

Thank you for such a great detailed video! I was able to get it 90% done myself on my 2004 Starcraft. I just needed another set of hands to hold the pliers to wrap that end around the winch and tighten it around that bracket. Well done. My only cost was the $100 cable I ordered so I didn't have to do anything but uninstall the old one and put the new one in.

Do u happen to know the distance of the stops from each other on the cable. Our campers stops moved on the cable and need to know where to crimp it to be the right distance again. Right now the rear will raise but not the front

That information is at 14:20 in the video. It's 67 3/4" between ferrules for this camper.

Couldn’t you just flip the axle over and not do any welding, and place it under the springs?
@theartifactory3637 Жыл бұрын
People do do it that way, but the axle has a bow in it that has to remain in the right orientation to compensate for the axle’s flex when weighted. If you flip the axle, the bow will be going the wrong way and you can wear out your bearings and tires faster.

@amariner5 I don’t recommend it. It’s extremely heavy and probably pretty dangerous to do it that way. Not to mention there’s no easy way to get it to lift evenly which makes breaking components likely.

Have you looked into rearched springs ? Longer axels ? That way you could get a decent lift where you could actullay get decent sized offroad tires and make that a beast of an adventure camper that will go anywhere your jeep can.

I can’t figure out where to feed the second crimp. Getting pretty frustrated
@theartifactory3637 Жыл бұрын
I go over that at 16:11. The top stop gets fed up through the pulley and into the top tube. Next the springs go in ensuring that the cable sits in top of the bracket that holds the two springs together. The bottom part of the cable that loops under the pulley threads into the bottom tube and through the small space between the two parallel springs inside the tube. It should thread all the way through the tube until the next stop comes up against the springs inside. It should come out the end of the tube at the front of the camper where you will wind it up on the spool for the crank. Hope that helps! Good luck with your repair!

@anthonymcinturff95552 жыл бұрын
Please
@theartifactory36372 жыл бұрын
The second stop goes into the bottom tube to meet up with the bottom set of springs. At 17:19 where I’m feeding the open end of the cable into the bottom tube toward the winch, the second stop should follow that in to meet up with the bottom set of springs that push toward the front of the camper. When you’re feeding the cable through, there should be a space above the bracket holding the springs together inside the tube that allows the cable to feed easily through until the bottom stop meets up with the springs, then you’ll wind the open end of the cable into the winch. Hope that clears things up.

Just like putting the wood on the floor jack, you should have put the wood on the jack stands! The jack stands would be more stable on the concrete, and the wood would have spread the load on the frame, as it was when on the floor jack!
@DoRC Жыл бұрын
Wood cribbing is a perfectly acceptable and very often used way to raise something up. There's nothing wrong with the stability of that. Putting a bunch of wood on top of a small area like the top of a jack stand would be extremely unstable.
