It’s hard to know whether it was just one of the things or both. Separately, VetRX is for respiratory issues and I had one goat that always had what seemed like allergies and coughed a little bit for about a year. I dosed her with some VetRX and her cough went away. That doesn’t help me know what role it played in the lice, but it did let me know that it definitely works for some things. If you’re struggling with lice and don’t have it on hand, you can always try the sulfur without it and see! I’d love to hear back if you have success without it. VetRX is now something I’ll be keeping on hand for my goats though.
@michellewallace31529 күн бұрын
@EweGoatToBeKidding i have loved the vetrx for our chickens. Dont need it often but its worked wonders. Was thinking maybe it played more of a role then the sulfur powder. I had to go the pymitheryn (spelling?) Route this time because i discovered a really heavy load and one doe was pretty anemic. So just getting ideas as to what to keep on hand for future use
@EweGoatToBeKidding9 күн бұрын
@michellewallace3152 Gotcha. I can’t really be sure, but I think they both helped. As we got our mineral buffet up, they all took some sulfur. But since I didn’t do them separately, I’m not sure. :)

You are so fortunate to be landowners with the strength to manage it. After everything we have gone through and have finally woken up to the fact we depended too much on others to provide for us, we got ourselves in a bit of a pickle. Now I am too old to be able to live a self sustaining life.
@EweGoatToBeKidding11 күн бұрын
God has been extremely gracious to us. You may not be able to do things physically, but there’s so much you can do no matter where you are in life. Cooking more, sourcing better ingredients, just buying less in general. There are so many things!
@Stones-ef5wh11 күн бұрын
@ I know of one thing that was a big contributor to the downfall of the art of cooking and that would be the MICROWAVE! Once the microwave came into our busy lives we thrived on prepared frozen foods. It was, also, so much faster to boil water in it for making coffee. I hadn’t used a teakettle for decades until about a year ago. Now I use a teakettle! I don’t have the courage to get rid of the microwave though, lol.
@EweGoatToBeKidding11 күн бұрын
@Stones-ef5wh The microwave isn’t as bad as you think to get rid of! We were considering ditching ours, but weren’t sure we could handle it. But then ours broke shortly after our kitchen remodel. We’re too cheap to go buy a new one and it’s actually not been too bad at all. Different, yes, but we got used to it pretty quickly.

hey, can you open and close this manually via your phone if you're in another city for work?
@EweGoatToBeKidding11 күн бұрын
Great question! No, it is not internet connected in any way. But you program the time and it does it every day. So even if you’re gone, it’s still opening and closing. You just can’t change the times it opens and closes unless you are physically at the door.

What was the total time in the freeze drier? Also I saw some people in a fb group bake them at 200 before freeze drying, have you tried that?
@EweGoatToBeKiddingАй бұрын
4 hours and 35 minutes total. 15 to cool down, 20 min warming, 4 hours to run. I haven’t. My Mother in Law does candy all the time and she said she’s never used the oven. If I try them again I might warm the trays for 30 minutes to see if that helps more of them to pop open.
