Thanks! One nice to have thing would be to show how to take out scrap yarn when you are ready to work that cast on edge.

Great suggestion! I have now added links to my videos on picking up stitches from the provisional cast on and grafting. Here's a link to my playlist on Grafting garter: kzbin.info/aero/PL6GAv8YmZxEUlLVpTISH2skmV1mo3sS8k

Does the weight of the scrap yarn and the main yarn have to be the same?

So the scrap yarn will be taken off at a point?
@GZDesigns4 ай бұрын
@@evabazan1966 yes, when you're about to graft (seam) your piece. But you can also use this cast on when you need a very long tail. You then use two separate strands of the same yarn.
@GZDesigns3 ай бұрын
@@evabazan1966 Yes, that's the idea. You take it out leaving live stitches from your cast on to be grafted together with the stitches of your last row for a seamless looking join.

@@GZDesigns Thanks! I rewatched it and realized I got it wrong 😅 I’m doing option 1 but I was knitting the first stitch instead of slipping it. I’ll redo it.

Are these good for invisible seaming later?

No, these are more decorative edges. I believe you can better seams if you don't slip stitches for edges.

Are stitches added for the slip stitches? For instance if i’m making a blanket with 10 stitches on each side, do I add an extra stitch to each side?
@GZDesigns3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you usually add an extra stitch to each side.
@vivianpowell17323 жыл бұрын
I prefer Option One because I find it easier and neater to slip the first stitch on a row knitwise, rather than purlwise.

will it work for stockinette?
@emmy_dreams83 Жыл бұрын
Yep! I've just finished trying all 3 options and I prefer the 2nd option but go by what you prefer and feels comfortable to you, just when you turn your work do the opposite ( so as if ur about knit the first stitch just put it on your needle, then continue to purl the rest of the way till you turn your work again) Hope this helps! :]

Thanks so much for these tips, I'm new to knitting and the edges are making me crazy ... I now am going to take out a large piece I'm making eeeeek so I can have these neater edges ;) thanks again!!
@serapugurlugil92144 жыл бұрын
Thank you this was useful... In stockinette stitch You may knit the first stitch and slip the last stitch purlwise ( right side).. Purl the first stitch and slip the last purlwise ( wrong side) 😇.
