Nice jodorowsky dvds ! I got a 6 disc box set online at the start of the year !!! One of my favourite directors! And to be fair those are 2 of his best films !!!

Very lovely video diving into such a fantastic musician! That's great that you happened to find the 'Mustard' vinyl right after learning about it! I really enjoy that you pointed out how he doesn't take himself too seriously- that's one of the things I love about him. Looking forward to seeing your video about 'Boulders'!

6:55 I love that goofiness too. All of their TOTP performances are so fun 😆 What a lucky find in that shop! I’ve been kind of the same as you, was thinking about how great that Christmas song is which then led to really getting into a deep dive of Roy Wood’s music since Christmas and watching all the interviews and things 😁 His level of talent in so many areas is amazing

I have always been a fan of Roy Wood, and Mustard is one of my favourite albums. Thanks for making this video. Hopefully it will help to point more people towards Roy's music.

In the '80s in the USA, virtually all Roy's stuff could be found in used record store discount bins for $1-$3. I'm glad I bought this stuff when I did -- and kept it! This album isn't better than "Boulders," but it's almost as good. I would also recommend "Super Active Wizzo" and "On The Road Again." In fact, I'd recommend most things Roy Wood had a hand in! Great to see him recognized here.
@SpectrumTubeLou4 ай бұрын
Oh yes Boulders is absolutely brilliant! I would say I like that and Mustard equally and will be covering that album soon! Wizzo band & On the road again are great too! For whatever reason the latter wasn’t released here in the UK.

Mr Wood lives in my hometown of Derby. He's got a converted pub in a place called Cubley. He frequents Derby quite alot doing shopping. He used to frequent a now closed rock nightclub that I used to go to. He would sneak bottles of champagne in his pockets to give to the ladies. I actually saw him about 6 weeks ago in Derby's Wh Smiths. He bought a TV quick and a Take a break magazine too😂
@SpectrumTubeLou5 ай бұрын
Haha oh right! I knew about him living in the converted pub, looks like a really cool place. funnily enough the drummer for Wizzard lives close to me and frequents one of my local record shops ha, thanks for your comment!

@LastDopamineHit There is a very rare single by Ayesha (Brough) called "Farewell". She was a singer and actress who was also engaged to Mr Wood prior to Anne Haslem. Ti's an odd but Typical Roy Wood tune

I think that this album came out at the end of November 1975 ( Not December), with regard to the lack of promotion Jet Records were putting all their marketing on the new ELO album Face The Music released at pretty much the same time
@SpectrumTubeLou5 ай бұрын
I have read from 2 sources it was released in December that year. The release was delayed as the studio he made it at had a dispute with the record company and held on to the tapes for a while. The money going on the promotion of the ELO record may well have also contributed to it failing to chart if what you say is true.

I always thought that he had set the chairs out for singing the different voices in the Choir on "The Song"

Picked up The RSD English Beat-Just can’t stop…brilliant. Have you ever listened to Songs for Drella-Reed/Cale -infectious. I had fond memories when it came out so I picked it up again on RSD lp. Agree on the Prince-great coming of age artist when I was buying records with my allowance and still has that same effect. Eno never made it to my mountain home…gotta remember that.
