Hi Derek, Thanks for the suggestion. We are big fans of Uke's. We just got back from the Ukulele Festival of Great Britain which took place this weekend. We have a Uke version on the roadmap and hope to have it out early next year.

any chance of alternate tunings?
@thenoisyclan2 ай бұрын
That is a great question. We don't have alternate tunings on our roadmap currently but it would be a fantastic way to explore tunings. We would have to figure out what the underlying structure is for the tuning. What tuning would you recommend first, DADGAD?

Hi, Thanks for the suggestion regarding the bundle. We will definitely do that once we get it fully shipping. It should be available on our website mid August. We are launching on Amazon first and it is available now.

The writers understanding of a root note is fundamentally flawed. You're spreading bad information
@thenoisyclan2 ай бұрын
Hi, I would love to understand why you think that the video has flawed information about the root? Mostly the video shows the interesting impact of standard tuning on chord shapes as they move up from the Low E to the high E.
@mjstories71812 ай бұрын
@@thenoisyclan The first chord you show isn't a B. There's a perfect 4th interval between the two bottom strings and then a major third between the two top strings making it a B/F#maj chord. You're correct about diatonic chords being root, third and fifth, but this chord would be Root (F#), 4th (B), and major 3rd (D#) For simple barre/open chords, especially for beginners, the root is always on the bottom. Suspended and combined chord shapes are more advanced concepts. This video is misleading to beginners.
@thenoisyclan2 ай бұрын
@@mjstories7181 Hi, thanks for taking time to analyse the video. The video is showing triads and the first chord shown is one of the three triad inversions of B on the low strings. It is a B chord, but could be written as a slash chord as you suggest, to indicate that the lowest note in this triad is the F#, ie B/F#. The goal of the video is to show how that triad shape changes as it moves up the strings and across the kink at the B string while the chord structure remains exactly the same. We felt it would be more confusing to call out the inversion rather than simply name the chord. Cheers

They do. It's just many of the notes you play when strumming an open chord are octaves or other notes. But chord which by definition is three notes (let's not go into detail) is contained within these diagrams.

I am wondering whether this decoder would be of help to me given i play the violin?
@thenoisyclan3 ай бұрын
Hi, Yes the decoder is a great help to ease you through music theory and organising keys and chords. The violin is more normally used as a melody instrument and so the chord families may be of less use in the beginning. The violin is tuned GDEA which is in 5ths so the circle of 5ths is a natural way to explore your instrument.

Could ya go into more depth of a longer video of the song writing theory of it? Cuz I’ve written some riffs and a couple of the chords aren’t on the Decoder, cheat sheets or the Guitar circle of 5ths Book I’ve got. And then there’s some words that aren’t in the glossary of the book. And I wanna add more to the couple of riffs I’ve already got but I still don’t understand what key to use to add different chords to maybe make it a full song, know what I mean? I know the one chord is, I’m priddy sure it’s an Em7 cuz isn’t that played on the 5th string-2nd fret, 4th string-2nd fret, then the 2nd string-3rd fret and the 1st,3rd & 6th strings I leave open? And the other chord I use might be a C5 or C6 like, E 0 Then it’s gotta D chord in it. B 3 G 0 D 2 A 3 E X I know I’m not the flattest or is it the sharpest key musician, 😂 but can 🫵🏼 help me out, or somebody 🤯 to gimme a lil kick in the pants 🥴 to figure out and understand it so I don’t have to make these horrible tab demonstrations in the comment section?! I’m desperate?! 🙄😳🤣😂 🎸 I would really appreciate it! ✌🏼

Hi, Here is Andy's original video kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZCse6eIfN1lobM which goes into more depth on changing to chords which aren't in the key. Ie swapping in a minor or major for the major or minor. The first chord that you describe is definitely an Em7. The second sounds like a Cadd9. You may be in the key of G major or of course its relative minor key, E minor
