No ,really. I’m from Ukraine and live in USA like more than 1 year and still work on shitty kitchen like cook, but in Ukraine before I being mechanic/operator and have same work. Just interesting for salary , in Ukraine it’s like 500-600$ per month for same job like u, and it’s good when u live in Ukraine. But here I work on kitchen like crazy and have 2000$ per month, I work all whole week, it kill me, trash work

What do the red and blue stripes on the wire rope indicate?
@KeepinItReelyReel16 күн бұрын
the red and blue stripes on the wire rope are an indication that’s it’s a certain company’s wire, basically a trademark! but the color is also wire rope lube! 👍

Cordless drill and one of the Uni-Bits 1/8" to 1-1/2" diameter range size, then no more wobbly spool and can still be stacked 4 to 6 high and not worry about lower spools collapsing or folding in, due to misalignment wobble.. ether way, not a huge deal, if the spool is wrapped for customer pick-up, and the spool will be discarded to the trash bin once wire rope is installed.. but for long term storage, a polite hole in the tube, to not shift of damage the alignment makes for greater storage
@KeepinItReelyReelАй бұрын
nice brother thank you for the wisdom! though a uni bit would look more clean and help with the longevity of the reel, when i hammer a hole it usually is for reels that are most likely getting discarded once installed OR on a baby reel that isn’t going to have a long shelf life! for bigger wire rope we definitely terminate with tie wire for the most support and it doesn’t give the empty reel a problem for wobbles, shitty reeling, etc. yes though yes yes yes a polite hole will definitely make it greater for storage because hammering a hole does shift/dent the core and may affect the rods! thanks for the comment dru we appreciate it, YOU HAVE A GREAT DAY! 🤙

@@KeepinItReelyReel I miss cabling work.. allot of fun, for a guy like me who has a major case of OCD, and the satisfying oddity of wrapping a spool of wire rope as cleanly as possible, even layers, nicely... Well, I used to take photos of spools that wrapped up so perfectly, and years of doing such, I had a folder on the laptop of wire roped spools, and my lady one night noticed the laptop folder titled as such... She asked what it was, so I proudly showed her, and slowly scrolled through, one at a time, and she couldn't tell the difference between them, lol.. she asked, how many photos do you have of these freshly wound spools? Oh, I don't know, maybe a couple hundred... She rolled her eyes, and walked away, while saying, "and you think you don't have OCD!"... Lol..

AHAHAHAHA THATS FUCKING AWESOME! 🤣👍 i hear you brother!! some days i get em when i can and some days i don’t because of how busy we are but either way as the days go on at least once a day i go “damn that’s a beautiful reel!” the colored lube on a reel, the lay, etc., all of it plays a part in how fucking satisfying it looks! thought some days i’ll feel off and just can’t get a perfect spool. 🥲 ahahaha man, if you still got some of those pictures share em with me because i can definitely appreciate a good looking reel! i’m just imagining your wife looking at the hundreds of photos thinking to herself like “dude this is just some dirty wire what’s the big deal?” 🤣 OCD brother OCD ahahahaha

@@KeepinItReelyReel far out man, thats just one monday morning hangover away from a crushed hand or worse. Can u get a handrail or something to lean against at least to buy u some distance from the reel? Youre essentially running a lathe free hand , and that foot switch doesnt have a reverse or anything does it? Theres a bunch of shit thats a pretty easy fix that would go a long way to not fucking u up for a split seconds inattention. You are worth a lot more than that reel of cable.

for sure bro i understand what you’re saying, thank you! but the thing is… we know how dangerous this job is, we know how much weight this thing can handle, & we know what can happen if we are careless… but the thing is, the only shitty thing about this was the way it was reeled on there lol. 🤣 i appreciate the concerns my bro but trust me, i’ve seen the live leak videos during my safety training… i do not want to become a milkshake! with the big reels we can stand outside, the deadman just stops it but it’ll coast and no reverse… so a little bit of distraction will definitely UNALIVE the hell out of us but i’m safe, i may look a bit unprofessional at times but safety first my bro! i hope your night is great! 🤙

You ever catch a sticky nitrile fingertip under the cable? I'd love to see a shot of the roller equipment you use, or a name of the company that makes them. I like to spool up wire, hose & such in my shop for efficient storage. Doing it by hand is a lot of work. I've been wanting to build a spooling machine, but don't want to re-invent the wheel, in the process. Thanks
@KeepinItReelyReel2 ай бұрын
Good morning George! I have never caught a fingertip under the cable while reeling but ONLY during termination! The end of the cable with tie wire may sometimes hook onto my glove and or fingertip and pull a little but during reeling no! Nice! That’s awesome! Reeling is absolutely helpful for efficient storage and depending on the size of the cable or empty reel it’s put on it definitely keeps the cable or hose HEALTHY! Very healthy storing! By hand, in my shop we call it “COILING” some customers may want it coiled and it depending on wire size it can be hard due to tension in the wire! We have a hand coiler similar to the “hykon olympic reeler”! so give that a google! hopefully that helps with hand coiling! I’ll get a good shot around the machine for you! Look up REEL POWER machines! 👍 Thanks for the comment George hopefully your reeling days are magnificent, have a wonderful sunday! 🤙

@@KeepinItReelyReel Thanks, I appreciate it. I wear the same kind of nylon mesh/nitrile gloves; really like them, but gotta watch out for moving stuff or anything 'catchy', they're like magnetics to the stuff. I'll check out the sources you suggested. I have several very slow gear reduction motors I scavenged, 13, 24, 40 RPM's, that kinda slow. Figured one would be perfect for a reeler. My fav pastime is designing & building tools/equipment for my fab/machine shop. Love using obsolete or old equipment to making functioning machines/tools. My main metal cutting saw is based on a mid '50's DeWalt Radial Arm saw. Cut ferrous & non-ferrous using carbide or 0.060" abrasive blades. Cuts are clean, square & straight; unless it's something precision, don't need to machine the cuts. I have to get creative on where I get reels, too expensive to go buy. A good source for extension cords, small hose & 1/4" air hose is wire reels from MIG welders. A counter guy at the local welding shop snags them for me; guys come in to get a new reel of wire & don't realize how useful they are. About half of the ones I get are made from 3/16" welding rod welded together. For 3/8" ^ air hose & 12 or 14 ga extension cords, a leaky, not working, garden hose reel cart still works fine as a much lighter hose/cable reel. Since the water conn get cut off, don't care if it leaks. People are happy to get rid of them & I keep another couple of pounds of plastic out of the landfill; a win-win! LOL. If you have any garage or shop storage/org challenges, let me know. I've worked in, ran or owned shops since I was 12, almost 60 yrs of trying to manage chaos. Later, GeoD

Oh yeah i hear you my man, these gloves love attracting the bad stuff! 😂 Thin, but definitely do the job to its best ability that i can’t complain as long as i have the supply! But i feel like those would be perfect motors for smaller cords, wires, or rope for sure! Perfect speed to make sure that it is on there HEALTHY! You sure are a master at your craft, i don’t think any kind of material has a chance against you. 💪 For bigger wire we only use a Chop Saw, definitely gets the job done because we only cut up to 1 3/4”! That is a very SMART way of getting your empty reels, i honestly would’ve never thought of that! If you look up any wire rope shops depending on your area they have tons of “slightly used and abused” ones that aren’t fit too ship but can use for a “Re-reel”! But i’m sure you’ve already tried to reach out! You’ve got the win-win situation down to a T already ahaha let’s go! & with that much experience, i don’t think i would have any CHALLENGE to a master of the craft like you. all i can say is thank you for illuminating me with some knowledge and broadening what these tools and materials can be used for! You’re the man George you have a great day! 🤙
