Hi, I'll take the Nov 24 exams and your video helped me a lot!!! However, I'd like to know if you could share your timetable, like your organisation to study for the exams. I'm quite lost in where to start
@jq4-sАй бұрын
for my main subjects i did a similar method as in this video where i allocated a few topics per day, working through the harder ones first - i didn't have a specific daily timetable but i would track all of my study time for motivation. good luck with your exams!

I have anxiety and I can get overworked easily, should I apply?
@jq4-sАй бұрын
I made a full video recently on whether I think IB is worth it, but it comes down to whether you feel you’ll benefit more from doing IB than not (esp looking ahead to uni applications) - it is definitely a challenge and can get overwhelming sometimes but as long as you have a good support system & manage your time decently well it’s totally doable :)

@@jq4-s Thank you, for my school we have to apply in 8th grade and it’s stressing me out because IB is only during junior and senior year. I’m like what will I be like by then I’m not going to be the exact same, we all evolve and I don’t know where I’ll be.
@timepasstubeeАй бұрын
how many times in a year do ibdp schools take exams? do they take unit tests? pls answer as i'm joining the IB next year <3
@jq4-sАй бұрын
it depends on the school bc everything except for the finals is internal - typically the big exams would be at the end of y1, mock exams before the finals in y2, and then the actual finals. I had unit tests for most subjects, some also had end of term tests. but anything apart from the finals & IAs is pretty much just going towards your predicted grades + school report card
@timepasstubeeАй бұрын
@@jq4-s are the school exams format similar to the ib final exams?

I would respectfully disagree that grades are not that important for the beginning of DP 1. I believe that it is important to have that mindset to become the best version of yourself and when you say that grades do not matter that much that will negatively influence students and not encourage effort at the beginning that will be beneficial in the long run.
@jq4-sАй бұрын
I definitely agree that building that mindset is really important! I’ve found that especially at the beginning it’s so easy to get caught up on wanting a 7 on everything and overly stressing when the number itself doesn’t matter as much as the way you approach academics - so ofc putting in effort is important, but not to the point of being stressed about grades already at the start of ib

Hii. Thank u for sharing the video. This was super helpful!! What’s some stuff u recommend definitely getting from home before moving in?
@jq4-sАй бұрын
hii i’d say beyond the obvious stuff, the essentials are a good quality mattress topper, storage, a laundry basket, bath mats, and clothing hangers. any photos/decor from home, a lamp, and room spray can also be nice! tbh you can buy most stuff either at birmingham/coventry, or get it for cheap from campus second-hand sales
@doncela77292 ай бұрын
I was wondering how do predicted grades work, how much on average they differ from final ib scores, and how to deal with unfavourable grades? I enjoy your content!
@jq4-sАй бұрын
hii i did a full video on predicted grades a while back :) how much they differ from final grades is entirely dependent on your school and how accurate/fair your teachers predict, as well as how much effort you put in to improve your grades between then. if you’re not happy with them you could discuss with your teachers if they’re willing to bump it up (esp if you can’t apply to a certain uni bc of it) - other than that it’s really just focusing on improving by finals!

Also do universities care more abt HL subjects and if so is not just better to do those subjects eg for a levels in the uk doing 3 subjects if unis don’t care abt SL ones. What’s the benefit of doing those extra subjects
@jq4-sАй бұрын
yeahh for this reason I do think a-levels could be better suited to uk unis - for uni applications which SL subjects you take don’t really matter (depending on the course ofc) but doing well in them boosts your overall score. content-wise it's unlikely you'll use all 6 subjects at uni (especially SLs), though you could argue it helps you develop better time management/soft skills than taking only 3 subjects
@tami79832 ай бұрын
What course/subject did u do at uni and to what extent did IB help u with that
@jq4-sАй бұрын
i’m doing a joint degree in bsc econ, psych and philosophy - so in terms of actual subject content I found IB math, econ, and business to be helpful. for skills i think IB bio and english literature also helped with things like learning scientific processes for psych & writing skills for philo - so everything does link together! spanish is really the only IB subject I haven’t used lol

Can you do a video on how you applied and what your PGs were? What are the actual cut off scores for an IVY league universities?I heard that 38+ is generally considered good. But from your experience and your classmates, what is the realistic pgs score you would say out of 42? (* not inclusive of the TOK and EE points*)

I can’t understand I’m going to start my Ib this year But why do we need that many resources, don’t we have teachers at school to explain lessons?????
@jq4-s4 ай бұрын
if you have really good teachers then yes, you probably won’t need many resources, but chances are there will be at least one subject where what your teacher provides just isn’t enough - also you’ll need more than just teachers’ lessons when it comes to revision for final exams

for spanish i found immersion to be super important - i watched 200+ hours of spanish movies + tv shows (always spanish subtitles, sometimes spanish audio too) which helped so much with vocab, understanding fast speech, speaking naturally etc, and it’s super fun hehe for math i’d suggest revision village, getting a tutor + consistent practice above anything - i have a full video on ib math up on my channel :)
