I have the same conundrum. My '26 TB-3 (according to the serial #8206-42) has a 40 hole archtop tone ring in it. I wondered if it had been changed oner from BB, but i cant tell either way from the rim. If it was converted, it was a very skilled luthier or a Gibson job. Maybe there were a couple left over in the factory they decided to put 40 holes in. Don't know.

When I saw its was a TB-3 I got excited but when I discovered it was not a BB version I was less so. I have never seen a video of a full disassembly of a BB TB-3 which is what I own.

i made something like that with different lights. But the lights are too far from the blade. So while I have a shadow, its too skinny. And like this, by the time I see the shadow, the blade is on the wood, and I might as well use the blade at that point.

People interested in making their banjo sound it's best focus on the head tension as a priority area of improvement. It is a widely discussed and analyzed topic. This novel invention makes it easier. It also is a novel way of assisting the tuning process where is a troublesome topic often discussed. Thanks for asking.

Thanks for the video. I am trying to buy a '27-'29 TB3 conversion archtop 40 hole and I needed to see all of the hardware to make sure it is original. Turns out the one I am buying is all OG (except the neck which is a period conversion by Gibson)

It's good to see someone do a video on the Tenor Banjo ! Not everyone wants five strings . Although I love the music of both. Good video.

It looks completely original to me, get somebody to make a five string neck and play it LOL, i would leave it as a arch top. don't cut the pot down and fit a flat head tone ring on it, in years to come it will be worth more in the long run. nice banjo!!

Nice! You made your own Festool Domino machine albeit I would guess for around $800 less.

Very cool machine sir. I was going to make one of these but I discovered Mathias' Pantorouter and bought that instead. Have you heard of it? He sells plans for you to make it out of wood. If you built this you'll love that, and I'm sure you can make it. I decided to buy it over making it because my time is scarce. One other thing, what type of camera are you using? I want to make sure I never get one(just kidding around). You should keep it stable when filming, I get nauseous with the shaking video. Nice job.

I'm a big fan of Mathias Wandel. He also made a horizontal slot mortiser on his channel. He has two pantorouters and sold another, but he still uses his slot mortiser for some things - it's just easier to setup than the pantorouter for certain tasks (slots). That was taken with a phone. I got a digital camera this week. Thanks for the comment though!

I made 13 of those for my son. They were basically the same (except wide enough). I started 3 stackable boxes that would hold 4 each. That's unfinished, but he just has the mini-boxes on a bookcase.
