In 1999, I took my 12-year-old son to a Tom Petty concert in Southern California. The concert changed my son's life. For the last twenty years, my son has been an engineer in the entertainment industry. My son's name is Thomas, for obvious reasons. Thank you, Mr. Petty. RIP.

This is one of my favorite songs by Tom. It doesn't get much play because it's "politically incorrect". Screw that.. I love it! This version is a little more subdued. I like the original the best.

This song has real meaning considering how the people that lived in the towns that the north invaded. Imagine being a kid or a young adult and an older citizen of the south felt. I can understand men fighting on the battle field but when they started destroying average citizens farms I thought that that was not the typical war tactics of this country in any war. I was born a rebel and for good reason. People hold these government officials feet to the fire they are a bunch of crooks.
