I picked up a '69 Bird with a hydraulic clutch to a Tremec T56 6 speed. The entire brake/clutch pedal assembly has side to side movement of about 1 inch. I am worried that it may be coming loose. Have you ever heard of an assembly having built-in play?
@shaggyscarshop6 ай бұрын
There shouldn't be much play in them. They should have a plastic bushing in them but see if you can find a schematic of the assembly and make sure all of the pieces are in the correct spots

@shaggyscarshop thank you. Yes, I'm going to crawl under it this weekend. It's a complete restomod, everything new but only 1k miles in 10 years and I've put 500 miles on it in 5 months so I think I need to start retourquing everything. Great video, thanks.

When I had the crank at the machine shop, I had the machinist mill out the hole for a pilot bearing and balanced with the flywheel I ordered. It's a special flywheel from cad500parts.com. The flywheel fits 10 to 12 in gm clutches. I used the BOP to T56 bell housing and it fits up to an 11 in clutch. For the clutch, I forget what exact one I picked. One rated to hold 600 hp if my memory serves, but it's a push style to go with the T56 throw out bearing. Hope this answers your question.

Hey, I am in the middle of this same job for my 70 Camaro. I too am using the stock pedals, hydraulic clutch bracket from Speedtech, GM hydraulic cylinder, Wilwood manual brake master cylinder and Wilwood proportional valve. After some hammer and dolly work on the firewall hole I got the GM hydraulic cylinder to fit ok, messaged the Speedtech bracket hole so the Wilwood cylinder would fit, I came across the next problem. The stock pedal bracket bolts that go through the firewall are not long enough for the clutch bracket, Wilwood master cylinder, Wilwood required spacer, Wilwood proportional valve bracket and finally the castle nut!! So I guess I will replace the GM firewall bolts with something about 1/2" longer. Hope you don't run into this one.
