Hey Boss, I am really liking that collet/screen holder you have mounted on the right side. Anything you might change on that? Assume the holes you made to mount it did not intrude on anything? Did you just make the box out of aluminum or sheet metal?

Awesome Video! Your new block for this design should be a "deep skirt" design so you can use "cross bolted" mains! I see 2,500+ horsepower forced out of one of these things! Cross bolted mains would almost be a requirement! Good luck and Godspeed on your endeavor!

There were only 2 Mk IIs in the 1965 race. The others were GT40s. The Mk II is NOT a GT40, contrary to what modern historical revisionists say. Note that Ford called all its prototypes "Ford GTs". Worse, the video calls the Mk IV a GT40. What a joke. The Mk IV sat 38.5" high. It was a 100% clean sheet of paper design done by Kar Kraft and Ford in Dearborn. It featured an aluminum honeycomb monocoque and Phil Remington helped to reshape the J car into the gorgeous, curvaceous Mk IV. Amazingly, the most sophisticated car in 1967 was the Chaparral 2F. Besides the high mounted articulated wing, it had rear side mounted radiators and an all aluminum ZL1 427 engine. Unfortunately, Jim Hall's team was small and short on resources, but the 2F did end up winning the BOAC 500 at Brands Hatch. Fun Fact: The 427 FE engine in J5 made more horsepower at the end of the race than at the beginning. 2nd Fun Fact: It is NOT Cal-li-ope. It is Ca-li'-o-pe. The Calliope was a musical instrument that used large whistles.

You win! I mispronounced just to see if anyone was paying attention! Call-lie-o-pee. Lol. The history was just meant to be general information. The engine, however, is not general. I'm modeling it to exact tolerances. Thanks for watching.

Take your intro from 1 min to 15 sec. While this technique might be good for precision parts, for a blade that will be going through dirt and other stuff in no time, this is overkill and a waste of both your time and the milling maching. Get an angle grinder and use a jig. It'll not only be faster, but cheaper in the long run and easier.
@chopsmitty
@chopsmitty Жыл бұрын
Point taken on the intro. I'm a machinist who makes aerospace components and telescope parts. I just don't have a big grinder. I've got a Milwaukee 4.5 18v angle grinder, and removing this amount of material would take an hour per blade. I've got a Brideport and nearly an endless supply of end mills sooo....

Never never ever would I do this to my Bridgeport. Use a 9" Wildcat grinder would do this job quick. Your shop, your rules, but using the Bridgeport is just abusive to the mill and that carbide cutter is not cheap. Not trying to be negative, just stating my thoughts. ---Doozer

No, not negative! I cut far worse things in that Bridgeport, but I mostly use it for squaring up stock or punching holes in mostly square blocks. It's accurate way out in the travels and has a super nice new DRO. It's my workhorse. Now, I would probably never cut these in my CNC. It's just more valuable to me and the parts I produce.

Interesting. I'm asking around about this. One person said "Iron drain pipes are direct burial...?" Anyway, the cesspool has been abandon for over 60 years and the ground was absolutely dry - dusty dry (and it's raining in Waimea). All the local water is provided by Kohala Mounting ditches (rain water) vs. well water. I think there is very little risk in what we did. On a side note - not one recycle company will even accept my aluminum, steel, brass, etc chips. So all of that goes into the landfill. No other choice.

I have 3 Creality Printers (2-S10 Pro’s and 1-Ender 3 S1) and I just got this model in August. I also couldn’t be happier with the speed it prints at, the quality of the prints and the overall ease of use. We live full time in an RV Fifth Wheel and I just crack the window behind the printer and my wife has never complained about any smells (well once maybe when I forgot to open the window on a 3 hour print). You can control the amount of purge waste in the software (I use Orca and the Bambu software, but the latest update of the Bambu software prints don’t open in the older version of Orca without a warning. The initial printed lines also enables the printer to test the acceleration with the current filament and then it stops after the first layer to let you see if it’s OK before it continues. If you don’t pause the print then it continues as normal. You can turn off the bed leveling after the first print in a continuous session, but I reenable it after 3-4 prints in the same day. In short I really love using this printer and if I could talk my wife into it I would have two of them in the RV.

Wow you want from bad to worst with the Creality Ender 3 you realise fast that Creality now is just a clone manufacturer no innovation at all. Bambu Labs has changed the face of 3D printing. All 3D printers will now have to catch up with Bambu. Even Creality release a clone of the X1 called the K1 Max and its in no way a Bambu killer just a clone and a bad one at that. I disagree. A ton of Creality critics are victims of user error...even if they won't admit it. I run 3 print farms and most of my units are Crealitys. I also run a 6 Prusas and 23 Bambu units. My Creality units are Ender 3 v2's/V2 Neos with silicone springs, sprite extruders, and Klipper...cheap and simple. They print very near Bambu machine quality and only slightly slower. Most of them only need bed tramming 3-4 times a year and failure rate is comparable to the Prusas.

@@OhImKiCkiN as you stated - it takes a ton of tweeking (silicone springs, sprite extruders and Klipper) to get these to function. We've had at least 3 mechanical engineers and myself trying for over a year to get the big Ender to print consistently. We don't want to learn and develop a curriculum how to 3d print - we just want to 3d print things. This Bambu seems to be the one for us.
@timf7354

I've watched quite a few videos about this printer. It may be the next one I get. I have been 3d printing for 5 years now and it was a hobby. I modified the Ender 3, Ender 5, and CR10S. All those are Creality printers. There's definitely a lot of tweaking with the slicer settings to get rid of stringing like you have on the Benchy. You'll never get rid of the vertical lines without hardware upgrades to the Ender 3. They are caused by the stepper drivers (chips on the motherboard.) If you haven't already done so, check out quite a few other KZbinrs if you want to get more out of the Ender 3. But, honestly, with the Bambu Lab X1 Carbon with AMS, you won't ever want to use the Ender 3 again. That's what happened when I got the Prusa Mk3S. The Creality machines were only backup machines and then I was never happy when I compared their prints with the Prusa prints. Also, something to note that you'll learn about is the X1 uses a proprietary slicer that optimizes things for what it can do. Don't use Cura with it. That also means you aren't really going to be able to use it's slicer for printing on the Ender 3. So now you have to use multiple slicer apps. But the X1's app also has a mobile phone app that lets you check on things and kick off prints. There's so much to say about this that you didn't mention in the video. The last one I'll leave you with is to make a shoot for the plastic turds it poops out the back of the printer so they land in a trash can. Otherwise, you are going to have a mess on the floor behind that printer. Especially if you start printing multiple colors. (Do you know Adam Savage from Myth Busters? He has a YT channel, Adam Savage's Tested, and has 2 of these printers. Definitely worth checking those out and what his experiences have been with them so far. Spoiler alert, he loves them too, but there's more tweaking to be done.) Best of luck!
@rkatz69
@rkatz69 Жыл бұрын
Couldn’t he just use orcaslicer and use any printer?
@timf7354
@timf7354 Жыл бұрын
@rkatz69 I don't remember which slicer it is, but there are some with the X1 printer's profile in it, but the wireless functionality to push to the X1 doesn't work or other oddities. Sorry that I don't know all the specific slicers out there as there are just too many and I don't even have this printer to test on. But, generally, your question is correct. He could use a orcaslicer to slice for this this printer, but then has to switch the profile to slice the same model for the Ender 3. So, yes, same slicers, but reduced functionality and/or lots of tweaking that's just built-in and optimized using the X1s proprietary slicer.

You'll love the Bambu printer. 3D printers are finally getting to the stage where they are usable for business and not just toys for hobbyists. I bought the k1 Max to help with prototyping and have been pleasantly surprised at how easily and flawlessly it prints everything I throw at it. ASA no problem, TPU, no problem. The Bamboo is supposed to be even better. Enjoy!
