@@overdrone1606 the input lag? it's noticeable compared to playing the original NES one on a CRT. it didn't make it unplayable though, I think if you're not used to NES version you wouldn't even notice. maybe a couple frames of lag, nothing too harsh

⁠Maybe Bouken is supposed to be Boken which translates to The Book in Swedish. My theory is that it’s the book of magic from Zelda 1. no bouken - No book in this fucking game.

I had 12 friends that were all very excited and interested in Zelda II any% even though they were born after 2007. Now they keep calling it a boomer game and give me generally distasteful glances whenever I mention the Nintendo Entertainment System. They won't even make eye contact with link anymore. They called me bad names. And my cat's girlfriend left me. Thanks. Also my car won't start. There's a starter problem or a battery cable problem. This is unrelated to this PB but I thought I'd mention it because it makes the run even more damning. You fucking JAG. (no really my car won't start and I have to ride the bike to work, there's only 15k miles on it I don't understand).

ng+ means new game+, which is a game mode that you get after completing the game and saving your file. hope this helps!

For 2, press Up+A on the second controller while the menu is open. Your other questions can all be answered by the phrase "optimal routing." Cancelling level ups in particular allows you to get attack levels up faster (you don't lose the experience when cancelling, so it goes towards the next level up)

how hard would you say is it to 100% this? ive played a good amount of 2D platformers both modern and classic and i would appreciate it if you could give me a score from 1-10 in terms of completion difficulty. this game looks delightful but im not sure right now if i want to dedicate myself to complete it if it turns out to be insanely difficult.

@@teero121 ohh that's a good question, while the platforming isn't too too hard in this, it has a lot of trial and error being a "puzzle platformer." you're required to 1cc (not game over) the regular levels in order to get the true ending, which I've done before on NES. if you play this specific version of the game you'll get rewind which will help learn the hard parts, and the game is pretty short. I'd say overall probably about a 7.5/10 but that's just me LOL I think there's plenty of harder games on NES, ninja gaiden being one of them. you could do it!! let me know what you think if you get around to it

this is a really great way to diminish someone's fun thing they did on the internet while also showing how uneducated you are on a subject. the big discord channel we have of all the Zelda ii runners pretty much get together and discuss what's allowed in a speedrun category. you can also find the leaderboard for Zelda ii speedrunning online that will show all the different categories we have, the rules and all the different skilled people that play them! I probably have about 5000 hours or more in this game and have enjoyed learning every aspect of it with others. with your attitude you'll never accomplish anything nearly as meaningful as the runs and friends I've made playing this game.

@@Lite_zed I’m fluent in Japanese. Does that count as meaningful? By the end of the year, I’ll also have (finally) opened up my own small business. But yeah, I guess you’re right. It doesn’t quite compare to an unofficial world record speed-run with no major glitches.
