you should make some patching tutorials I love your jam sessions. I have not been able to get the most out of my pulsar yet, what I notice is how complex and varied the sound is which is nice.

Thank you! I can certainly do that at some point. I myself have only scratched the surface of pulsar. I do feel like I learn something new about it with each patch. It can be patched simply but has a very high ceiling of how crazy you can get with it. I have some stuff cooking up so keep an eye out!

Can u tell me how did u sync pulsar with labryinth.
@JoeSchultzMusic3 ай бұрын
Labyrinth is the master clock here. Labyrinth clock is sent to the pulsar. Pulsar has converters for 1/8 inch patch cables to alligator clips. From there it’s clipped to the clock in of pulsar, and you’re ready to rock!

Well done J.S.! Is this just pulsar stand alone, or do you have other units going? I just ordered one, I feel a wee bit intimidated by everything I’ve seen but I’m very excited about it.

Thank you! This is just the Pulsar by itself. I hope you enjoy yours! It’s one of my favorites (I actually sold the unit in this video and purchased another one bc I missed it). It definitely has a lot going on, it’s very deep and flexible, but don’t be intimidated! Just take your time and enjoy the process. And the manual is your friend :)

How do you get it to talk like that my plates just gets triggered and says like 9912 green just keeps repeating the same shit over and over
@JoeSchultzMusic7 ай бұрын
Lol that’s peculiar, but for this I have Plaits in the robot mode (bottom green) and then stick an LFO/envelope into the timbre, morph, and v/oct inputs. All kinds of variations depending on where your knobs are and what shape Lfo you’re using. Hope your Plaits will talk now 🤖🦾

It sounds alive!!! How hard to learn on a scale 1-10 for non techies?
@JoeSchultzMusic11 ай бұрын
It really does sound alive! I’d say maybe a 7. If you have any experience with synths/modular/ drum machines then it’s less of a learning curve. But it’s a unique machine, definitely has it’s own quirks and unique features. But you could definitely learn it and make patches as simple or complicated as you like and still have fun. And of course the manual is your friend! Cheers!

Is Pams workout use in this patch at all? Great jam btw!
@JoeSchultzMusic Жыл бұрын
Thanks you! It is used in this patch, unfortunately I don’t remember for exactly what. But usually I would use it to get more clock divisions to create more syncopation, or I’d use it for Lfos, synced with various different clock divisions.

Would love to see the patch notes for this one
@JoeSchultzMusic Жыл бұрын
Sorry I don’t have specific notes, this was one from the archives. But the general idea is that marbles t1 and t3 are triggering plaits and rings. Marbles is in the multiply/divide mode, and the Y is acting as an Lfo to modulate deja vu and bias, which is where all the crazy rhythms come from. The X sections of marbles are modulating different parameters of plaits and rings, and that gives the different changes in tone/timbre. You can 100% do this in VCV for free if you don’t have these modules. Thanks for the interest!
