I think we must think deeper from the preparation standpoint …sigh…because the way insurances are now it seems you pay into a system that won’t be there when you need it…😢…

We are paying for long term care coverage now. Hopefully it’s sufficient if and when it’s necessary.

Paying off your mortgage prior to retirement is actually a math problem. If you have a low interest rate (less than 3%) then it makes financial sense to keep your money invested in low cost index funds.
@OurBlackUtopia16 сағат бұрын
Exactly! But why did I look at this so-called financial expert trying to lay out the math but never mentioning your money making more money than the interest rate. This should be taught in high school.

I never think about not being able to meet my basic needs but recently, my mom needed help and my siblings and I had to step up and help her. I don't have a kid that will be there for me. It's just now becoming a reality that there may come a time when I need help. I'm so afraid of what will happen to me.

Hey Ric & Halisi 👋. Awesome video as always. Of all the things about America I will not miss, I must admit there are a couole restaurants I will totally go through withdrawals from: Jimboy's tacos and el Pollo Loco 😭. While stationed in Europe I was fortunate enough to spend three weeks in Belgium. It's a unique country, and it's great that Leo has made a life for himself there. People should be inspired by his story.

If the mask is being worn for illness, please consider using N95 or Kn95. Unfortunately, a cloth mask that keeps sliding down one’s face has no seal so offers no protection.

This is definitely enlightening. I always laugh when I hear someone saying, “I’m American and I know my rights.” Other nations don’t care about your rights. Besides, you’re delaying everyone else and you just might end up behind bars over stupid stuff.

Love how you're giving reality checks. One other thing you may want to cover is the minimum amounts you must be able to prove financially to get residency in some countries. Just grabbing your last paycheck may not be enough to get the visa you need.

Do most people sell or rent their homes when they leave the US? Not sure what to do if i ever have to return to the US for awhile (ie sickness, family issues). Also do you recommend keeping a US mailing address?
@OurBlackUtopia5 күн бұрын
Hey Carolyn, thanks for watching. YES, keep a US mailing address, a US bank account, and claim residency in a state that won't tax you to death from abroad. We kept our residency in CO because they're tax rate is manageable. Regarding real estate, I'm not sure how many keep or sell their homes. Of the people that we know that owned their homes, I would say about 1/3 kept them as we did and rent them out. The others sold and re-invested the money in the stock market. Hope this helps.
