I do miss Virgin Trains they ran the Cross Country and West Coast mainline services and were an excellent example of how a British train service should be run. The fact that so many people took them to their hearts as was seen on the BBC'S One Show says all that you need to know. British travel Guru Simon Calder paid tribute to Sir Richard Branson and his Virgin Group for the job that they did and for successfully bringing tilting trains in the shape of the Pendolino to the UK West Coast mainline.

I think these 800series IET trains are terrible compared with the 40 year old HST. Hard uncomfortable seats, poor interior design no buffet car, a very poor ride especially at 125mph when the train rattles and vibrates. Some of the coaches have lose panels which also rattle. Cheap and nasty trains and I will be surprised if they last 10 years let alone 40. The Japanese can build superb advanced trains but Hitachi have failed big time with these. The old British Rail would have made a better job 40 years ago!
